Thank you Prateek Joshi! Exciting insights from our co-founder Mehul Nariyawala on the journey of Matic Robots 🚀 While there are over 200 self-driving car startups and numerous companies tackling industrial robotics challenges, very few are focusing on bringing advanced technology into our homes. The home robotics industry has seen few substantial advancements since the introduction of #RobotVacuums in the early 2000s, which were often plagued with user frustration due to their limited capabilities. We know that indoor robots need on-device mapping capabilities to address privacy, latency, and changing indoor environments. This in-depth interview delves into the evolution of floor cleaning robots, the emerging trends in robotics, as well as the challenges and opportunities in the commoditization of consumer #AI.
The topic on Infinite ML pod today is -- Building robots that can clean floors We have Mehul Nariyawala on the show to talk about it. He's the cofounder of Matic Robots. They've raised funding from a stellar group of investors including Nat Friedman, Daniel Gross, Patrick Collison, John Collison, Matthew Rogers, Jack Dorsey, Naval Ravikant, and more. In this clip, he compares and contrasts the mapping aspects for a vision-first robot vs a robot that uses other types of sensors.

Want the coolest keychain ever? 😍 Our Matic Robots keychains may have stolen the show at #CVPR2024, but the real robots and our handheld perception crown display are a thousand times cooler. 😎 📍 Visit us at Booth 2040, where we are truly SLAMmed with excitement, showcasing how our entire autonomy stack runs fully on device. 😃 Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society and Computer Vision Foundation, #CVPR is the preeminent event for research and development (R&D) in the hot topic areas of computer vision, artificial intelligence (#AI), machine learning (#ML), augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (#AR/ #VR / #MR), deep learning, and related fields.

We all want to live in a clean home that we don’t have to clean ourselves. Unfortunately, for the last 20 years, we’ve been stuck with tumbling, bumbling, wire-chewing, disc-robot vacuums. We started Matic Robots to bring AI from the digital realm to the physical world and use it to solve everyday, mundane, boring, and time-consuming problems. Indoor robots need on-device mapping capabilities to address automation, privacy, latency, and changing environments. Matic navigates your home the way humans do, employing on-device computer vision to navigate gracefully and precisely for efficient and autonomous cleaning. We are on a mission to build fully autonomous, intelligent, elegant, and useful robots that enable people by saving their time and energy. Visit our team and see Matic Robots in action @CVPR2024 Booth #2040!

At Matic Robots, our entire tech stack is built on #Rust. With millions of lines of code, our software team has achieved something remarkable. Over the past year, with hundreds of robots operating 24/7, we haven't faced a single segmentation fault, data race, or null pointer exception. #Rust is incredibly robust, allowing us to deliver high-quality, reliable and safe solutions for our customers. Check out this podcast by our Eric Seppanen with Matthias Endler here. We also explained why we chose Rust in this blog: https://lnkd.in/gn_-AyFS
I had a fun conversation with Matthias Endler for the Rust in Production podcast! We talked about engineering at Matic but also spent a lot of time discussing Rust as a tool for quality and productivity, and what it's like to build a big project in Rust. Thanks also to simon brüggen for editing my rambles into something mostly coherent :)

Curious about our design choices and what makes Matic different? Check out our latest blog! Founded by two tech-savvy fathers Mehul Nariyawala Navneet Dalal, Matic brings decades of #ComputerVision expertise and years at Google Nest Pro to the world of home robotics. We understand that busy families spend countless hours on chores each week, and we're here to change that. Matic is a smart, privacy-focused, AI-led floor-cleaning robot designed with busy families in mind. It utilizes computer vision technology just using RGB cameras to map and navigate homes in 3D, recognizing different home environments. All processing and intelligence occur on the device to ensure user data remains within customer’s homes. Matic can switch between vacuuming and mopping while in motion, based on what it observes, without the need to change out parts or user intervention. At ~55dB, Matic is quieter than human conversation, and unequivocally the quietest #RobotVacuum on the market. Our solution is crafted to be fully autonomous, allowing you to save time and energy: no babysitting, rescuing it, or worrying that it will create a bigger mess and break things. https://maticrobots.com/

Here at Matic, we're at the cutting edge of computer vision for robotics. We're teaching robots to understand and build an on-device live 3D map using five RGB cameras for precise and intelligent cleaning. Neural networks are increasingly handling our perception stack, bringing us closer to a fully end-to-end network. Importantly, all data processing happens on-device, ensuring your privacy and that no user data is sent to the cloud. Powered by NVIDIA and inspired by the Tesla FSD team.
We've trained a voxel occupancy neural network to build live 3D maps using regular cameras. It runs at 3ms on nvidia A40 & 30ms on jetson nano orin Training takes 5 days on 0.7M images from our Unreal Engine simulation Co-developed with Shivam Patel & Jason Zhou Matic Mehul Nariyawala Navneet Dalal vis in Rerun 🔥
