Located south of the Portland metropolitan area, Marion County stretches from the Willamette River to the Cascade Mountains encompassing nearly 1,200 square miles. County Commissioner Danielle Bethell, Sheriff Nick Hunter, and L.E.A.D navigator Hank Crapser met with Congresswoman Andrea Salinas yesterday to discuss future plans and challenges related to the implementation of House Bill 4002, which re-criminalizes possession and use of controlled substances beginning September 1, 2024. The county is working hard across departments to ensure we are prepared and have as many resources as possible to help steer individuals caught in addiction to the services they need for recovery.
