Shout-out to our incredible Maricopa County Animal Care & Control volunteers who spent yesterday making app-paw-tizing meals and treats for our shelter pups! Even though the 4th of July is now behind us, we expect celebrations to continue through the weekend. Continue keeping an eye on your furry family members and provide a secure and comfortable place for them to hide from the frightening sights and sounds of fireworks. Interested in volunteering with our shelters? Learn how you can join the pack: https://lnkd.in/gd7jttFb

We're proud of the positive impact our LGBTQ Community Health Specialist has made in the community! Building relationships and improving representation leads to better health for everyone. This month and every month, we support our LGBTQ employees and community members with #Pride.

In 2023, we added an LGBTQ Community Health Specialist to our team to improve access to health programs for these traditionally underserved residents. Since the creation of that role, we've built relationships with 32 local organizations whose work supports LGBTQ community members! This outreach has helped increase LGBTQ representation on crucial community health surveys. When we have a better representation of our community as a whole, the result is better health for everyone.

The FY 2025 budget illustrates that Maricopa County is an efficient government. Maricopa County spends less than $1,000 per resident, while some similar-sized counties spend three or four times as much. Another example of efficiency? Maricopa County has a lean and effective workforce, with 3.3 employees per thousand residents, among the lowest ratios in the country. While some other counties are taxing as much as they are allowed under state law, Maricopa County’s tax levy is $257.1 million below the maximum, with tax levy growth under 3% over the past five years.
