Maple Farm offers an innovative approach to short- and long-term skilled nursing care in two warm and welcoming households on a 66-acre campus at 604 Oak Street in Akron, Pennsylvania. In 2009, when the property was acquired by Garden Spot Communities, it was fully modernized, with private rooms, private and semi-private baths, open country kitchens and other amenities. Maple Farm is honored to be a Garden Spot Community. Founded on faith in 1990, Garden Spot is a licensed, non-profit provider of innovative housing and lifestyle services that enrich the lives of older adults as an expression of Christ’s love.

We continue to celebrate National Volunteer Week by shedding light on Team Members at Garden Spot Communities who Volunteer in community. Wes, who has been an RN Supervisor at Maple Farm since September 2021, is an incredible asset to the Maple Farm Team since September 2021 is an incredible asset to not only the Maple Farm Team but the ELANCO area in general. He volunteers as Captain for the Garden Spot Fire Rescue. Frederick Living CEO Michelle Rassler and Garden Spot Communities CEO Steve Lindsey recently signed letters of affiliation, marking a step towards legal affiliation of the two organizations. Garden Spot Communities and Frederick Living share a similar mission and values as faith-based, non-profit continuing care retirement communities. Steve says, “We started this journey because both Frederick Living and Garden Spot Communities recognized that the world is changing faster today than ever before. Both organizations believed that the era of the single site and small system organization is coming to a close.
