Fourth-Generation Farmer Telling My Family's Story

🔥The world is on fire. Literally. But how do you cut through the noise and get people to care? This is the Marketer's Dilemma: When Climate Change Isn't Enough. Please vote for our #SXSW panel so Max Kabat from goodDog, Christina Volgyesi from Dr. Bronner's, and I can talk about subversive tactics to make tough issues palatable… and maybe even fun! ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gsZFhN2h #Regenerative #RegenerativeAgriculture Lundberg Family Farms

"We're all going to die!" Shouting it from the mountaintops to motivate change doesn't. So Brita Lundberg from Lundberg Family Farms, Christina Volgyesi from Dr. Bronner's and I are looking to talk about what works for the do-good space at SXSW. Marketer’s Dilemma: When Climate Change isn’t Enough You can vote for the panel with the link in the comments. Here's the description: How do we talk about the most pressing issues of our time without losing consumers along the way? Climate change, regenerative farming, and Fair Trade are just some of the buzz words that marketers want consumers to know and care about. But nobody wants a sob story. Sometimes it takes subversive tactics to make tough issues palatable…maybe even fun! Hear from marketing leaders as they share challenges and opportunities in cutting through the noise with unconventional storytelling methods. And thanks to Ami Hamilton for helping pull this together! Art from DzineMon. Link in comments #sxswpicker #regenerative #regen

Fourth-Generation Farmer Telling My Family's Story

📣 There are only a few days left to vote for our #SXSW panel: Women Leading the Regenerative Revolution! Globally 🌍, 43% of agricultural workers are women, making them central to how and what the world eats. Yet all 10 of the world’s top food companies are run by men. This mismatched representation has contributed to a flawed food system where profit is prioritized over human and planetary health. The good news? Women like Sarela Herrada of SIMPLi and Jen Berliner of Patagonia Provisions are transforming our food system to be better for people, producers, and the planet. ✨ These women are setting the gold standard for farming, uplifting indigenous female farm communities in the global south, and disrupting the industry. That’s why we've teamed up to submit a #SXSW panel to discuss how women-led brands are building a regenerative revolution! We are thrilled to have Esha Chhabra, author of Working to Restore and Forbes regenerative columnist, moderating this important conversation. Please help us further the conversation (and the revolution!) by voting for our panel here ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/erSKdrfj #regenerativeagriculture #farmliketheworlddependsonit Lundberg Family Farms Regenerative Organic Alliance

We like to think Eldon, Wendell, Harlan, and Homer Lundberg are having lunch at the cafe in heaven. Together again. Homer, the youngest of the four brothers who built Lundberg Family Farms into a leading grower of organic rice and maker of best-selling packaged rice and rice snacks, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the age of 89. Born in Holdrege, Nebraska, Homer was two years old when he and his family moved to Richvale, California with a Farmall tractor, a flatbed Chevy truck, and a new farming philosophy: “Leave the land better than you found it.” Homer was a lifelong advocate for organic farming. In 1969, Homer and his three brothers started milling their own organic brown rice and selling it directly to the public, launching the company that would become Lundberg Family Farms. In the early 1970s, Homer joined with other organic farmers to establish CCOF, creating consistent standards to help guide and grow the organic movement. For decades, he researched new ways to reduce weeds in organic rice fields and helped cultivate organic rice farming practices that he and his brothers shared with other family farmers in the Sacramento Valley, contributing to the success of California’s organic rice industry. In 2016, Homer received the California Rice Industry Award in recognition of his lifetime of contributions. Homer was humbled by the award, and grateful for the farmers who went before him, saying: “We’ve been able to stand on the shoulders of giants who have worked hard and put up their wherewithal to make rice farming what it is today.” Homer was one such giant, and we are grateful for his lifetime of leadership, service, and generosity. We will miss his strong and calming presence, his stories and sense of humor, and his love of family and farming.

When it comes to partnership, Sprouts Farmers Market isn’t ducking around! Unless they’re releasing ducklings in our fields 🤣 We recently welcomed the Sprouts team to Richvale, CA for a field trip! 👇 🌱First stop? The nursery, where baby rice is born… by which we mean that we study, select, and cross natural, non-GMO varieties of rice for exceptional taste, quality AND compatibility with our regenerative organic farming practices.    👨🌾Then we got into hip waders and out in the fields to see those regenerative organic farming practices firsthand—like drowning grass weeds and drying up aquatic weeds instead of dousing our fields in chemicals! 🦆 We even released ducklings that were rescued from rice fields earlier this year so they could be incubated, hatched, and raised until they were ready to be released back into the wild.  Thanks for coming to visit us, Sprouts Farmers Market, and for supporting regenerative organic farmers AND eaters – we’re so proud to partner with you! 🛒💚  #SproutsFarmersMarket #Sprouts #LundbergFamilyFarms
