This is spot on: "When elected officials come together to align on common goals and collaborate across differences, we can accomplish A LOT!" ✨Together, we are indeed stronger. Together, we can make our region a place where everyone thrives. Well done, Rob Saka, Esq., LT'18!👏🏽 #TogetherWeThrive #LTAlumni

I wanted to share a special moment and a few learnings with you all… Last week, after months of meticulous deliberations and collaboration, the Seattle City Council UNANIMOUSLY approved a $1.55 Billon transportation levy package. It was signed by Mayor Bruce Harrell the very next day! Now voters will get to decide whether to approve it on the ballot in November. As Chair of our City’s Transportation Committee, I was responsible for overseeing legislative review of the levy process end-to-end. Through this experience I learned: ✅ Democracy is messy but it works. At a moment in our country when divisions reign supreme, let this be a civics and political lesson: when elected officials come together to align on common goals and collaborate across differences, we can accomplish A LOT! #bettertogether ✅ Harmony is possible. Where some might focus on obvious tension in complex and technical workstreams, such as our transportation policy decisions, it is possible to drive an effective, collaborative process that balances competing priorities and interests. (Note: this does require EXTRA work.) 🤝💪 ✅ Bold basics matter. Regardless of the strategic importance or value of an effort, don’t hesitate to dive deep into the details. Through collaboration, compromise, and painstaking attention to detail, we reached a consensus levy that delivers the everyday basics in an extraordinary way. 🛣️🚎🚴🚶🚗♿️🚚 ✅ Praise and ‘credit’ are not finite resources. They should be applied liberally and often for the contributions of others. Avoid a scarcity mindset, especially here! 🏆
