Next up on our Sea Summer Film Series: 🎥 The debut screening of Path of the Panther with a special Q&A with wildlife biologist, Dr. Jennifer Korn. When: Wednesday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. in our auditorium. 🐾 Jennifer received her Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she created the first genetic pedigree for the federally endangered ocelot in South Texas. Then she moved to Florida to take the position of Florida Panther Specialist with FWC, where her work focused on the panther population north of the Caloosahatchee River. In 2017, Jennifer began working for Johnson Engineering, Inc., where she collaborates with FDOT, state agencies, and private landowners to monitor for panthers and locations of wildlife crossings. What a groundbreaking moment for us to welcome Computed Tomography (CT) technology to our very own hospital! Generously donated by the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation, we are now the only sea turtle hospital to have a CT machine on its campus! In obtaining images of our patients' organs, bones, and other tissues, we will be able to identify whether our patients have internal fibropapillomatosis (FP) tumors and more through a quicker and less intrusive process. Thanks to the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation, we are expanding our capacity to treat and release sick sea turtles, and work in sea turtle health and rehabilitation. 💙 Hayley J. Local divers have spotted two of our satellite-tagged loggerhead turtles, Lemon Drop and Brianna, on our reefs in the last few weeks! 🤿 🐢 Brianna was tagged in April 2024 and has since laid two nests on northern Palm Beach County beaches. In between nesting, she has been residing in the reefs off of Juno Beach!
