Kit Salon, a new venture by Molly Hardin in Fort Thomas, is a dream come true for the Fort Thomas native. Hardin, a full-time interior designer and part-time hairstylist, took over the former Salon on Highland, which was previously owned by Monica Ebert. Ebert, who has worked in the industry for 28 years, encouraged Hardin to take over and make the place hers. Kit is a boutique salon that offers standard hair services and extensions. It's an intimate space with a unique atmosphere, where stylists have at least 15 years of experience. The salon offers little luxuries, such as a signature tea with marshmallows on top, filtered water in shampoo bowls, and handpicked products with clean and vegan ingredients. Hardin's vision for Kit is to be a part of the community and offer free haircuts to foster kids and discounts for foster families and caseworkers. She also plans to host community classes on topics ranging from picking your product routine to how to blow dry and curl your hair like a professional.

West Sixth Brewing, a Lexington-based brewery, has announced plans to open a new location in Covington. The West Sixth Covington Haus will be located at 1000 West 6th Street, the former site of Flying Axes. The new location will be a nod to the building's history, as it was once a fire house and then a restaurant called Covington Haus. The brewery hopes to have about 20 beers on tap at an L-shaped bar in a back corner of the building. The location will also feature a restaurant, which will serve lunch and dinner. The brewery's head brewer, Andy Smith, formerly worked at Hofbräuhaus in Newport. The new location will be a family-friendly space, with seating and tables of various sizes, including some lounge seating. The West Sixth Covington Haus is set to open in the fall, with the restaurant opening later in the year. The brewery's main taproom and production facility is in Lexington, and they have another location in Louisville. https://lnkd.in/gGvu7xRp
