On July 3, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas issued a limited stay and preliminary injunction of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s rule banning most non-compete agreements between workers and employers. While the relief was limited in scope to the parties in the case and not a nation-wide preliminary injunction, the order strongly suggests that the court is positioned to strike down the rule. The court has indicated that a final ruling on the merits will be issued on or before August 30, 2024, prior to the rule’s currently scheduled effective date of September 4, 2024. Linklaters attorneys Andrew Gaines, Janet Lee and Maddy Hayes offer key takeaways in our client alert here: https://lnkd.in/eY8ez_eG.

Our New York office was honored to host Anu Aiyengar, J.P. Morgan's Global Head of Advisory and M&A, for an enriching dialogue on leadership, career development, and DEI. The event, co-hosted by our Asian Affinity Network and Women’s Network, provided a platform for Anu to share invaluable insights into her journey to one of the most esteemed positions on Wall Street. Moderated by our very own Tax Counsel Vasudha Anil Kumar, the session covered topics from effective decision-making and strategic leadership to advocating for women in the corporate world. Anu's perspective on the critical role of legal counsel in navigating complex deals was particularly enlightening for our legal teams. We are grateful for the opportunity to strengthen our collaboration with J.P. Morgan and look forward to continuing these important discussions. A heartfelt thank you to Anu for sharing her experiences and wisdom with us. 📷: Danelle Le Cren, Head of Linklaters’ U.S. Banking Group, Vasudha Anil Kumar, Anu Aiyengar. #Leadership #DiversityAndInclusion #DEI
