It may not seem like it, but real-world issues need your talents too, says Ayana Elizabeth Johnson. Here’s how to contribute what you do best — and find joy in the work that needs to be done: http://t.ted.com/fArhBEK
Do you want that Ferrari, or do you actually just want to be respected? 🤔
Bonnie Wan, author of The Life Brief, says it's important to question what's behind your material wants.
“Does the Ferrari actually reveal that we want to be respected, that we want to be seen as someone who has strength and confidence? There's always something deeper."
When she asks people what they *really* want, she says, it's not a Ferrari, a fancy home, or big title. It's:
✔️ "I want to be seen."
✔️ "I want to stop being overlooked and underestimated."
✔️ "I want mad love."
✔️ "I want inner peace."

It’s so interesting to me that people can’t understand where the market’s moving, aka, in this scenario that “we,” as 40–50–60 year-olds are going to live dramatically longer and healthier than your parents’ and grandparents’ generation.
So you sit here at 50, and you start questioning, “where am I in my life?
Middle?
Tail-end to middle?” …
So many of your entrepreneurial and life ambitions start to dwindle…
You start losing hope and you give up. You start settling into your life and thinking “this is how it played out.”
I “could have” .. “I should have” .. “I didn’t” ..
I just never want you to get to a point where you say “I wish, I wish, I wish”
What I hope to accomplish with this one little piece of content is to inspire one 49, 50, or 51-year-old to understand, psst…
YOU HAVE A LOT MORE TIME THAN YOU THINK!
If you are not crushing it and focusing on the content that you put out on the most important social platforms, you’re going to become mute and obsolete in the modern day of doing business.
That’s why organic reach is so important because the impression you get when someone comes directly to your page is a much more qualified lead and potentially a more valuable customer than someone you got through an ad buy.
No amount of paid media is going to turn bad creative into good content.
There’s plenty of different paid tactics (Facebook Advertising, Instagram influencer marketing, YouTube pre-rolls, Snapchat new ad product, etc.) that will help grow your audience, but the opportunity to get very serious about the content that you put out in an organic way on social networks matter.
Why?
Because it is the most natural and current state of the internet.
While the supply and demand shift for paid media becomes more saturated, it leaves an incredible opening for the brands that make great content to grow the right way.
When you start to really understanding what social media is today and where it’s going, you start realizing that social media is just the slang term for the current state of the internet.
“Fun is not just lighthearted pleasure — it’s not just for kids, and it is definitely not frivolous. Instead, fun is the secret to feeling alive.”
