When disaster strikes, our crews answer the call to action. Our team’s response to Hurricane Beryl was no different. Linetec crews answered the call when Beryl reached Texas as a destructive Category 1 hurricane that produced severe flooding, wind damage, and tornadoes across the southeast, impacting more than 2.7 million customers. Responding to a storm of this magnitude requires coordination, collaboration, and mobilization of teams at scale. More than 580 employees traveling from 7 states across territory assisted 12 major utility customers throughout southeast Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana with storm restoration efforts, working around the clock on behalf of our customers and the communities they serve. We are forever grateful for the efforts and sacrifices that our personnel make to restore power when it matters most.

The lineman profession began in the 1840s with the introduction of the telegraph. Back, then lines were installed on trees- then poles- to facilitate long-distance communication. Nearly 180 years later, there are more than 120,000 lineworkers across the U.S. that commit every day to ensuring our lights stay on and our communities stay connected. The work requires a high degree of training, skill, and bravery. Lineworkers traverse challenging conditions and are the first responders when the power goes out. They work at heights, at all hours, and in extreme temperatures. Their work often goes unseen, but their impact is visible and felt by every single one of us. This National Lineman Appreciation Day, we want to recognize our teams at Linetec, and express our gratitude to lineworkers everywhere. #ThankALineman

On Tuesday, March 19, Linetec team members turned out to support Manna House, a Louisiana-based organization that provides hot, nutritious meals 365 days a year to those most in need. Specifically, Linetec representatives played in a charity Pro-Am golf tournament, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Manna House. The organization is run purely on community and volunteer support and relies heavily on community partners like Linetec.

Linetec is proud to be an active member of the communities we serve. We recently received a note from a resident of Sheridan, AR praising our crews for showing respect as a funeral procession passed where they were working. "I don't know the name of the company that is replacing all the electrical poles on Little Creek Cutoff Road BUT I want to brag on them! While on my patio this morning a funeral procession was going by and all the men on the ground took off their hard helmets and stood still as they went by! Great act of kindness!" - Julie A. Great work!
