About us

The Licking County Health Department serves more than 170,000 citizens in the Licking County General Health District by preventing disease, protecting the environment and promoting healthy lifestyles with a vision of healthy people living in healthy communities. The Health Department is a non-profit, governmental health agency. Its mission is accomplished through the health department’s divisions of Administration, Environmental Health, Community and Personal Health, Maternal and Child Health, and Health Promotion. Programs include, but are not limited to: Illicit Discharge Program, Radon Program, Mosquito Control Program, Sewage Treatment Program, Public Pool, Restaurant and Campgrounds Inspection Report Program, Healthy Homes Program, Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Program, Traffic Safety Program (the Safe Communities Coalition), Physical activity and nutrition program (Creating Healthy Communities), We’re Active Licking County (the Licking County Wellness Coalition), Cancer Prevention and Detection Programs (through both SASS and BCCP), The school-based health education program (Partners in Wellness), Child Passenger Safety Program, At Risk Pregnancy Program, The STD Task Force, and more.
