  • "Things like this show that our work is not going unnoticed." We've got a great story for you to start your Friday. One of our General Forepersons in South Carolina was recently recognized by a local mayor. Scranton, SC Mayor John Williams says he was driving down the road when he came across one of our job sites and thought to himself, "I want to feed these guys." The crews he happened upon were under the leadership of General Foreperson Stacy Rowell. The mayor was familiar with the work Lewis does in the area, and with hurricanes and high winds a constant threat this summer, he said he sleeps a lot better at night knowing the vegetation around local utility lines is being regularly maintained. The mayor and his team organized a lunch for the crews to show his appreciation. Mayor Williams even ate lunch alongside the crews, getting to know a bit about the Craftworkers as they got to know him. "I was just impressed by the professionalism of all the different crews working in different areas," he says. Stacy says he and his crews had a great time interacting with the mayor and were very appreciative of the lunch. "It's just more motivation for the crews to continue doing a good job," he says. "It reassures them that when you do good things, even when you don't think someone is looking, someone is actually looking." #EmployeeOwners #PowerON #JobDoneRight

  • We're starting our exploration of our updated 9 to Know© with the 360-degree walk around. Before our employes move a vehicle or any piece of equipment, the driver or designee is required to walk all the way around it and check for things like overhead clearance and ground hazards. They also ensure that any loads are properly attached and secured during this check. If we're backing up, a spotter is put in place (when available) to help the driver navigate the vehicle or piece of equipment safely. Tools, pets, even people--we never know what could end up around our vehicles or equipment throughout the course of the day. Taking the time to walk all the way around our vehicles and equipment any time we move them is an easy way to help prevent accidents and damage. #9toKnow #Safety #SafetyFirst

  • We've got more pictures rolling in from the restoration efforts our crews have been busy with since last week, this time from Delaware. In another great example of our agility, our crews that usually support Atlantic City Electric were able to travel to Delaware to support our crews on Delmarva Power. We can't help but echo the sentiments of a local child who took the time to make our crews a special banner--a big THANK YOU to all of the crews still working hard to get the #PowerON for everyone affected by the recent storms! #StormRestoration #Utilities #Delaware

  • Agility at its finest! Crews from our Maryland division (under the leadership of General Foreperson Jose Argueta) took off at 5 a.m. Wednesday to meet up with our Illinois crews to help with power restoration after a flurry of tornadoes hit the Chicago area earlier this week. They arrived at 8 p.m. and were brought up to speed by Division Manager Art Ortiz and other local leadership so they could jump right into the restoration efforts the next day. Leadership even used the side of a truck to project information to the crews, as you can see below. Just another example of the agility and dedication our crews display when our customers need us most. #PowerON #StormRestoration #Chicago

  • Lewis’ 9 to Know© is revamped and better than ever! The 9 to Know© is a list of non-negotiable safety requirements that help our employees create safety throughout their day, from inspecting their vehicles before they move to ensuring proper work zone and drop zone setups when they arrive at a job site to using tools and assets and personal protective equipment appropriately as they work. We'll be exploring each pillar of our new and improved 9 to Know© over the next few weeks. Be sure to check back in to learn more about the safety culture here at Lewis! #9toknow #safety #safetyculture #safetyfirst

  • Nowhere is the Agility Ability of the Lewis team demonstrated more than when we come to the aid of our utility partners in responding to devastating storms. The battle is on three fronts this week - continuing the cleanup from #HurricaneBeryl in Texas while at the same time mobilizing to help restore outages around Chicagoland and along the mid-Atlantic from tornados and severe thunderstorms that hit those areas. The men and women on our local and travel teams have a "work at the speed of safety" approach as they team with line crews to get the #PowerON. Traveling from as far away as Florida and Illinois to support multiple utilities in Texas, our teams there have made staying hydrated in 100 degree heat indexes and caring for customers whose power has been out for over 10 days their top priorities. Lewis Leadership in Action! It's #safetyfirst everywhere, on every job, every day, blue sky or storm. Pictured are some of GF Cesar Mecado's crews from Illinois and members of GF Guadalupe Fuerte's team in Texas working in Houston. Thank you, Lewis team! #StormRestoration #Texas #Utilities #Teamwork #EmployeeOwnership

  • Lewis Field Operations is the engine of our company, driving the delivery of Job Done Right to our customers each and every day. This week, Lewis Operations leaders from across our 27-state territory gathered at headquarters to collaborate, learn, and grow together. Led by President & COO Dennis Brown, our Regional VP's and Division Managers dove deep into discussions on safety, inclusion, hiring processes, and financial results. It was a time to strengthen bonds, share experiences, and sharpen our collective mission to relentlessly pursue the success of our customers and employees. A special recognition moment was also held for Shantai Porter, Risk Management Coordinator, for her outstanding efforts in addressing homeowner issues and resolving disputes. It's moments like these that highlight the dedication and commitment of our team to our Job Done Right customer promise. We are proud of the work our Field Operations team does each day, and are excited to continue driving success through safety, service, learning, and innovation. Thank you to our leaders at every level for your hard work and dedication to our customers and employees. • We’re continuing our exploration of Leadership in Action with another article focusing on one of our seven Leadership in Action principles: Trust but verify. We sat down with Division Manager Eric Newman to talk about how he navigates the tricky relationship between trust and accountability and why learning to strike the right balance between the two is a tough but vital aspect of leadership. Take a moment to check it out today! https://bit.ly/4cJCUq8 #leadership #thoughtleadership #leadershipinaction
