We recently worked with Levels advisor and metabolic health expert Dr. Robert Lustig to create a comprehensive video series about metabolic health, including this one on Glucose. Now, you can access all 40 videos like this – for Free! The videos cover a range of topics, including: Metabolic Health, Insulin, Inflammation, Aging, Exercise & Lifestyle, Macronutrients & Nutrition Go to levels.link/masterclass to get access to the full video series and keep reading for more on Glucose. What is glucose and what does it do for the body? Levels Advisor Robert Lustig, MD, explains the roles glucose plays for cells. We get glucose from food. It is a substrate for both growth and burning. Glucose powers mitochondria, the energy-burning factories in our cells, so they can make adenosine triphosphate or ATP. ATP is the body’s universal energy currency. Glucose can be turned into lipids for cell membranes, ribose for DNA, and proteins for structural growth. But how do your cells know what to do with the glucose coming in at any given time? #metabolichealth #metabolism #CGM #levelshealth #healthtips #healthy #healthylife #bloodsugar

Why we need individualized data for better health care, with Levels Co-Founder Josh Clemente On the Meat Mafia podcast, Josh Clemente points out a flaw in the way we approach health care. We tend to over-generalize it, based on large studies and averages, rather than focus on an individual’s unique biomarkers and other data points. CGM and other biometric devices offer individualized real-time data that a person can use to make choices and create strategies for improving health and preventing disease. https://lnkd.in/gAsk_Vjp #metabolichealth #metabolism #CGM #levelshealth #healthtips #healthy #healthylife #bloodsugar

Log your meals faster than ever in the Levels app The new Quick Photo and Quick Describe options will log your meals as quickly and accurately as possible. You no longer have to wait for AI to crunch the numbers. It will do it in the background, and you can review it when you’re ready. Quick Photo is great to use any time, but it’s especially handy for when you’re out with friends or on the go. You just snap a photo and save it. Quick Describe is perfect for those times when you don’t want to snap a photo or can’t do so (i.e., you’ve already eaten your meal). Just dictate or type a quick meal description. Pro tip: Add the Levels widget to your home or lock screen for the easiest access to the Levels app. https://lnkd.in/gRGCj7uK #metabolichealth #metabolism #CGM #levelshealth #healthtips #healthy #healthylife #bloodsugar

Why Americans have high rates of chronic disease and what we can do Levels Co-Founder Casey Means, MD joined Dr. Stephanie Coulter and Keri Sprung, MBA at The Texas Heart Institute to talk about Levels, why continuous glucose monitoring isn’t just for people with diabetes, and her book “Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health.” “I did one of the most potentially dangerous things you can do in a huge system like the healthcare system, which was to start asking questions.” —Dr. Means Bodies in America are chronically inflamed - Every single year we’re spending more and more money on healthcare. (About $4.3 trillion now.) - We have astronomical chronic disease rates. - Children are now getting adult diseases. - Three-quarters of the country is overweight or obese. - Many diseases are a heightened state of inflammation. Why do we have chronic inflammation? - People in the U.S. consume too many empty calories. - We’re consuming too many ultra-processed foods. - We’re opting for convenience foods over whole, nutrient-dense foods. - High blood sugar (and regular spikes) is a root cause of inflammation and chronic disease. Why Dr. Means wrote “Good Energy.” - It’s all about bringing back the awe surrounding food and making it part of your health journey. - Food is the molecular substance that builds the next version of your body. - Food tells our genes how to be expressed and how our cell-signaling pathways work. - Food informs our hormones. - Sixty percent of your life expectancy is how you live your life. https://lnkd.in/guMCX7hk #metabolichealth #metabolism #CGM #levelshealth #healthtips #healthy #healthylife #bloodsugar
