Decreasing barriers for East San Jose Latinx students in the educational pipeline.

About us

LEAF's purpose is to increase college enrollment and persistence among low-income students attending East San José High Schools; to support systemic reform in the education system and to benefit all low-income students and to increase funding for all schools in East San José. We are currently comprised of four programs that prioritize academic success, parent engagement, and economic mobility for families that are experiencing systemic barriers alongside their first-generation student for the first time. We work to serve the socioeconomically disadvantaged Latino/Hispanic students of East San Jose through our support programming: 1. LEAF Center for College Success 2. LEAF Centro Educativo Para Padres 3. Career Exploration & Discovery 4. Eastside Education Initiative For more information on our education initiatives, please contact [email protected]

  • As we welcome our incoming LEAF Families this summer, we reflect on our current LEAF Families' incredible impact this past year in supporting their Scholars' college journeys. 🍃✨ Over 160 families graduated from our summer Puente de LEAF program. They continued their learning by participating in more than 30 workshops covering topics like financial aid, mental health, and other elements essential to a successful college career. 🎓💼 Our advocacy program graduated over 95 families, educating them on racial inequalities in East San Jose and empowering them to organize for change. Our Better FAFSA Campaign was a key initiative, advocating for mixed-status families who could not complete this year's FAFSA due to systemic inequities. 🏫✊ We applaud our LEAF Families for being incredible role models for our incoming families, especially those who share the experience of being the first in their family to have a college-bound student. 👏🌟 To our new LEAF Families and Scholars, we be-LEAF in you! Every small step is a giant LEAF forward. 👏🌟
