Lisa joined the Perry Outpatient program almost two years ago as a contracted school-based therapist. These were difficult shoes to fill, as the previous therapist that worked in the district left amidst tension and a level of mistrust. She has worked hard to re-establish Laurel Life's positive relationship with the district, and has built a culture of trust and respect with her clients as well as her district colleagues. The school administration has raved about the job Lisa has done, and they repeatedly ask for her collaboration on difficult cases. Lisa is continuously looking for new ways to utilize the strengths of her co-workers to best meet the needs of her clients. She readily agreed to have an intern shadow her work in the schools, and used that intern's shared love of gaming to recruit her to help create and implement therapeutic gaming groups in the middle school. Lisa is the epitome of a team player, and is always ready and willing to help where she can. Thank you for living our values! #LivingOurValues #thankyouforallyoudo

Laurel Life Gives Back Audrey Ditzler, Laurel Life therapist, spent time with her family picking up trash at their local park. After taking a hike and enjoying the water at their local park, Audrey and her family supported the park's 'leave no trace' policy by picking up trash left behind by others. "My family loves to hike and spend time outdoors. Way to often we find that trails we enjoy are littered with trash. This is harmful to the plant and animal life in the areas. We want the areas we hike to remain beautiful places filled with wildlife." Thank you for giving back to your community! #laurellifegivesback #communityservice #mentalhealth

Laurel Life Gives Back Kristen Killinger, Laurel Life therapist, held her annual card drive. Kristen challenged students and staff at a local high school to handmake cards that would be distributed to children in hospitals. Kristen also received monetary donations of arts and crafts supplies donations. "I was drawn to the mission of bringing smiles to children in the hospital. As a parent, when your child is sick, especially if facing a terminal illness, you just want to make them as comfortable as possible, and that includes making sure they have something fun to do during a potentially difficult time." Thank you for giving back to your community! #laurellifegivesback #communityservice #mentalhealth

Laurel Life Gives Back Michelle Diaz, School Based Therapist, decided to clean up her hometown of Cuxpala, Jalisco, Mexico while visiting family. She was fortunate to be in her hometown during the community's traditional celebration of Saints and was able to lend a hand during the celebration. “I chose this service to create a positive impact in my community because it creates a clean atmosphere for a beautiful celebration. While my family and I started to clean the center square, other community members began thanking us and helping.” Thank you for giving back to your community! #laurellifegivesback #communityservice #mentalhealth

SELF-CARE INITIATIVE Laurel Life promotes the importance of employee self-care, especially in a field that is evident of professional burn-out. To combat professional burn-out and turn-over, Laurel Life developed an internal employee relations committee, Safe Solace. Safe Solace then developed a “Self-Care Initiative” to encourage relaxed team building time for our staff. Laurel Life School-Based threw out the first pitch of their summer break by going to the Harrisburg Senators baseball game! After a long school year filled with hard work, they enjoyed a fun-filled evening to celebrate the year. Now, they are all ready to take some time off, relax, and unwind! Laurel Life Mission Support staff escaped from the work day and celebrated their accomplishments from the fiscal year while enjoying a cookout. #selfcare #mentalhealth
