What's the best way to get into a feel good Friday mood? A heartwarming story of craftsmanship and love! 🌷 Natalie Hall, owner of Artistry in Tile, LLCrecently completed a beautiful tile mosaic installation with stunning tulips for a shower niche. It was crafted with TRI-LITE® lightweight mortar, LATASIL™ sealant, and PERMACOLOR® (Parchment) grout. Natalie and her dad, Cory Hall, were 2024 participants of the A.R.T. (Artisans in Tile) program, where Natalie completed this project as a side endeavor. However, she soon realized this was more than just a tile mosaic installation. “This client hired my dad, Cory Hall, for a new walk-in shower as well as a few other tile and vinyl projects in her home. He pitched to her the idea of commissioning me to do a custom art piece in her shower niche, and she loved the idea. She requested tulips, and so her and I discussed the specifics of the colors and shape of the piece. It wasn’t until I was in the midst of the project that I found out the reason behind the tulips. Our client was recently widowed by the very sudden passing of her husband, just months after going into retirement. Tulips were her favorite flower, and every year on their anniversary, he brought her a bouquet. Now she’ll have a beautiful, permanent bouquet in her shower to always remember him by. She was absolutely in love with the final product!” Projects like this remind us of the emotional impact tile work can have. A pivotal moment for our industry, this event brought together leaders, contractors, distributors, architects, manufacturers and others to discuss sustainability objectives, standards, certifications, and initiatives — working to advance green building practices throughout the supply chain. "The Flooring Sustainability Summit was a great inaugural event to gather various stakeholders from the flooring industry,” said Eerik Maandi, Vice President, Sustainability & Technology at LATICRETE. “I am pleased that we had the opportunity to garner federal government support by discussing perspectives around common sustainability interests within the flooring industry, including relevant topics such as embodied carbon and greenhouse gas emissions."
