A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in northern New Jersey this morning, and was felt in New York City, Philadelphia, and surrounding areas. At this time, it’s important to take precautions to assess damage, and maintain the safety of yourselves, your employees, and the people who you serve. 🏢 What to expect: Expect aftershocks hours, days, or weeks after the main quake. Aftershocks can cause damage to buildings and falling debris that can cause injury. ❌ What to avoid: Avoid open flames in damaged buildings. Earthquakes can cause damage to gas lines so lighters, matches, candles should not be used. If power is out, use battery operated flashlights for lighting. 🚙 How to travel: Drive carefully and plan alternate routes. Structural damage and traffic light outages may make it difficult to get to your destination. ⚡️ What actions to take: Clean up any chemical spills as soon as possible. Evacuate the building is fumes are detected. Cut electrical power, natural gas or water utilities if damaged is suspected. https://lnkd.in/evrEnRbv
