Recently OB Registered Nurse Hannah (left) nominated Patient Care Supervisor Kristi (right) for a STARR Award (Striving to Achieve Remarkable Results). Hannah said Kristi was deserving of it by saying: "Kristi always goes above and beyond in her supervisor roles. As a supervisor, her shift roles and responsibilities continue to grow but Kristi always makes sure to learn these new expectations so she can help to set her staff up for success each shift. She always advocates for her staff and is always willing to do other roles. I know I can always count on her for anything when it comes to our shifts. Whether it is a tough delivery, prepping for c-sections, giving medications, or helping with admissions, I know she will be there to help if needed. Each month our staff can nominate another team member for a "STARR Award" which stands for "Striving to Achieve Remarkable Results." Recently our Director of Anesthesia and Surgical Services Melissa (left) nominated Social Services Coordinator Kristy (right) for a STARR Award. Melissa said Kristy was deserving of it by saying: “There was a total joint surgical patient that was unable to return home after the procedure. This patient has family that does not live in the Midwest and is unable to be present for the procedure. Kristy spent numerous hours talking to the patient, family, and local nursing homes to secure a safe place to recover post total joint surgery. Because of Kristy’s engagement, we were able to perform the patient’s procedure and provide a rehab location for safe and optimal outcomes. Congratulations to CNA Kendyl on receiving a $3,000 scholarship from the @iowahospitals iHERF (Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation Health Care Careers Scholarship) program! The goal of this program is to fill health care positions that have a significant number of openings statewide and to recruit students with the opportunity to obtain significant scholarships to help cover the costs of health care education. Kendyl is currently a CNA and going to school to get her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She will graduate in May 2025.
