The green economy is growing and the graduates of our Green Jobs Workforce Development Program are filling the need for qualified workforce participants. Lekha Ajit, 22, a graduate of the program, was recently highlighted as one of a handful of success stories by the Los Angeles Times: "I think people are starting to incline toward green jobs," Lekha told LA Times reporter Russ Mitchell. "The younger generation wants to be associated with careers where they can work for a cause." Lekha is eager to contribute to the positive impact the cleantech industry is making in our communities: "If [green energy] is going to be the future, why not be part of the change now?" asked Lekha. (Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/g5z8ZPd3) We can't wait to see what Lekha accomplishes with her new skills! Interested in breaking into the green jobs workforce? We are currently accepting applications for our Product Development and Design Training Course! Apply Here: laci.la/gjtc-pdtc-c9

☀️🔋 Last week, Senior Program Manager of Startup Incubation Molly Crete visited the pilot site of portfolio company, Mirai Solar, located at South Coast Research and Extension Center. The pilot aims to demonstrate how the retractable Mirai Screen, paired with battery storage and screen control, can serve as a self-standing off-grid agricultural site. As Founder & CEO, Michael Salvador shares, "If it weren't for LACI, this pilot would not be possible!" We're so excited to see the results of this pilot in a few months and hopefully bring home fresh vegetables grown using the retractable shading system! Be sure to follow us on socials and subscribe to our newsletter to hear more from innovators across Los Angeles! Subscribe here: laci.la/subscribe

We welcome the start of LatinX Heritage Month and celebrate the impactful role that Hispanic and Latino professionals have in the clean energy industry. In 2023, 1/3 of all new energy jobs and new clean energy jobs were filled by Hispanic or Latino workers (DOE). (https://lnkd.in/gaCnqpTi)

Last week, the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration Acting Administrator Veronica Vanterpool attended a roundtable discussion held at LACI to discuss the FTA's efforts to fund #zeroemission transportation, major infrastructure projects, and public transportation in Los Angeles and across the country. Administrator Vanterpool announced a full funding agreement of $893M for light rail in the San Fernando Valley! Big thanks to Eli Lipmen and Move LA for leading this excellent conversation. We look forward to welcoming you back at the world-class Los Angeles Department of Water and Power owned La Kretz Innovation Campus again soon. Read more: https://lnkd.in/g4mQ7-aU

⚡️🚜 Visiting Oslo with California Air Resources Board Chair Liane Randolph as part of a study tour for a California delegation lead by Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI). We visited a construction site located within a neighborhood that is using 100% zero emission equipment! The ZE equipment is either run by batteries that they charge in the evening or are plugged in. This site is clean, quiet, and completely electric! #ZE2028ROADMAP

🗞️ Check out LACI portfolio company, Delphire Inc, in Caltech Alumni magazine!
It has been wonderful to spend the last four years leading Delphire's contribution to the Wildfire problem. Just in time for our anniversary Delphire Inc got a burn notice in the Caltech Alumni magazine! https://lnkd.in/gfmSr5qS This will be a great year for Delphire Inc as we grow in several directions. We may have been quiet lately but surely not standing still. Stay tuned for some big news announcements and partnerships in the coming 6-8 weeks.
