With temperatures rising, LAHSA, LA County, and the City of LA have activated their Emergency Response Program. Cooling centers are available throughout the city and county. Go to https://lnkd.in/ghXMXY3 and download the #CoolSpotsLA app to find a cooling center near you! In addition, through outreach teams, LA County is offering motel vouchers to those experiencing homelessness in Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita. And the City of LA is doing the same in San Fernando Valley, Metro LA, West LA, and South LA. These services will be available now through October 9! 

This just in! LAHSA has launched its new #DataDashboards! Now, the public can access this new tool to learn more about insights into the work being done to end homelessness, specifically regarding Outreach, Interim Housing, and Key Performance Indicators. With just a few clicks, the public can see how many people we have helped in their LA City Council or Supervisorial district, how many people individual programs have assisted, and the performance of their local service providers. This is just another step LAHSA is taking to provide transparency and understanding to Angelenos and concerned citizens alike. When it comes to the homelessness crisis, it's often said that “someone should do something.” At LAHSA, we believe we are those someones. A great example is Tiffany, a problem-solving integration coordinator who learned the importance of taking action at an early age. You’ve absolutely made your mother proud—amazing work, Tiffany!

The Ramos family started living on the street after flooding destroyed all their belongings. The parents were unaware of the resources available to them as they were living in LA alone without any relatives. Their daughter found out about LA-HOP and created a report, which is how LAHSA connected with them! While this year’s Homeless Count results are hopeful, homelessness persists at unacceptable levels. The same root causes of homelessness exist throughout the nation – a lack of affordable housing being chief among them – and most Angelenos would need an income of 2.9 times the minimum wage to afford a two-bedroom apartment in Los Angeles. So, we at LAHSA will remain vigilant in finding solutions for our unhoused neighbors in LA. 

While many Angelenos have heard of LAHSA, there’s still some uncertainty about what LAHSA does. That’s why we are thrilled to introduce LAHSA 101!
