Started in 2003 by the Christian Brothers and the Sisters of St. Joseph in West Kensington, La Salle exclusively serves children from low-income families. Please send, cover letter, resume and references to [email protected]   Responsibilities The LSA Eighth Grade Teacher’s primary responsibility includes creating a welcoming classroom environment where students develop positive relationships feeling accepted yet challenged to take risk in learning in an age appropriate, challenging, supportive, Christian environment. The 8th grade teacher models the five goals of being respectful, responsible, motivated, consistent, and peaceful for the 8th graders as they prepare to acquire these necessary skills to prepare for the challenges of high school.   Requirements Bachelor’s Degree (in Education preferred) Subject Taught: 8th Grade Religion, 8th Grade English Language Arts, 8th, 7th, 6th Grades Social Science Prior teaching or experience working with children preferred Understanding and sensitive to children’s needs Strong classroom management skills ·      Organized, well-prepared lesson plans ·      Accurate, timely academic grading and daily attendance record keeping ·      Flexible, team player Good communication skills with students and adults Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Willingness to perform other duties as needed e.g. lunch duty, line duty, etc. ·      All required criminal background checks, including but not limited to Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Clearance and FBI Clearance Archdiocese of Philadelphia Safe Environment Part I and Part II: Protecting God’s Children, Mandated Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse References   Please email resume, references and letter of interest to Teresa Diamond, Principal of La Salle Academy at [email protected]
