Achieve decarbonization goals. Lower GHG emissions & increase profits with facility energy services & data solutions.

About us

In 1998, I started kW Engineering as a two-person firm with a singular vision: to become the leading technical experts at saving money in buildings by saving energy and water. Long before “sustainability” and “renewables” became popular buzzwords, kW Engineering was cutting its teeth in campus central plants and the aisles of data centers. We treat every project as an opportunity to showcase our expertise, further refine our craft, and strengthen our reputation by delivering results at the meter and on the bill. I am proud that my team’s results speak for themselves. With hundreds of satisfied long-term clients, we have steadily grown into a recognized leader in the energy industry with a dedicated technical staff of over 50 engineers. While new firms have entered the market in the past few years and others have left or been acquired by large corporations, kW Engineering has remained a private and independent company, beholden only to our customers’ best interests. We deliberately seek out only those opportunities where we can deliver results and build strong professional relationships that will last beyond our next 15 years.

Congratulations to kW Engineering's Commissioning Manager, Joseph Doss, for receiving the prestigious "BCxA Under 40" Recognition from the Building Commissioning Association! This award honors commissioning professionals who lead the industry by making best practices the standard, not the exception, and Joe is a shining example of that. We’re incredibly proud of his dedication to the field. As Lori Kaczka, Senior Director of Facilities at the University of Utah, shared, "Joe Doss exemplified the core principles and mission of a commissioning agent during a very challenging and unique commissioning exercise conducted by the State of Utah on an existing building that had a non-functioning and failing Air Source VRF system from literally the substantial completion date of the building’s construction. The State hired kW Engineering to assess the system’s function after multiple component failures across the system. The commissioning report indicated a system that had effectively not been built to the specifications and needed immediate remediation. Joe Doss, under the direction of Sunny Devani, took on the task of advocating for the Owner groups of the State and the University of Utah. Joe was able to establish trust and confidence of the group throughout the entire process by continually showing his commitment to getting the system functioning as intended not just merely “simply functioning.” He provided accurate and detailed analysis and then educated the team as to the best practices to get the building functioning given the high expectations of the group.  The team assembled included representatives from the Owner’s side, the manufacturer, the design team, CMGC, and sub-contractors. The task was monumental and seemed at times to be a never-ending exercise of investigation and discovery. At times, we took 2 steps forward and at least 3 steps back. Joe was able to navigate the frustrations of the team and remained steady throughout the process as a hands-on source of technical knowledge and support. He worked with the team to identify strategies and create approaches that benefitted the overall mission, serving the best interest of the project and the ongoing operational needs of the occupied building.  Joe’s attention to detail, communication, technical expertise and recommendations were an immense attribute to an, at times contentious process given the magnitude of the issues throughout the 140-sf building. Through his commitment to the process and the relationships he fostered along the way, we would have not accomplished the successful remediation of the system for this high profile building on the UU campus. " We’re proud to have Joe on the kW Engineering team, demonstrating leadership and dedication to Commissioning best practices that truly make an impact! 🙌 #BuildingCommissioning #BCxAUnder40 #kWEngineering #EnergyEfficiency #CommissioningExcellence

We’re excited to share that kW Engineering is the latest company to join Nexus Labs as a Marketplace Partner! Our Marketplace Partner Program brings the industry’s top technology vendors and service providers together. We’ll partner with kW Engineering on storytelling that moves the industry forward.  Our take on kW Engineering: kW Engineering, founded in 1998, helps building owners and operators reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency through engineering consultative support and their flagship software platform, kW Link. kW Link sits on top of SkySpark analytics and ingests meter and BAS data to create a platform built with the human stakeholders in mind. kW Engineering has built a procedure around their offering to ensure that software isn’t purchased and forgotten: they guide customers through their tools and create dashboards based on real use cases to make jobs less cumbersome. Make sure to check out their partner page and let us know what you think! Read: https://lnkd.in/g-GgjC-g
