Progress continues in West Baton Rouge Parish as we work on constructing the new southbound LA-1 Intracoastal Bridge. The construction of the southbound bridge is Phase 1 of a two-phase project to replace the existing bridges built 60 years ago. The new bridges will provide additional lanes and wider shoulders for more accessibility and safety, help with traffic congestion and be a more efficient route for hurricane evacuations in Louisiana. Kiewit is the general contractor on Phase 1. Phase 2 includes the demolition of the old bridges and the construction of the new northbound bridge.

We’re still debating who had more fun at our “Family Day” event in Western Canada – the parents or the kids! Families of our employees enjoyed bounce houses, ice cream and short rides in some cool equipment. Each kid was also given a Kiewit lunch box and a stuffed animal. This event is a great opportunity for children of Kiewit employees to learn about what their mom or dad does and see how much we appreciate them for sharing their parents with Kiewit. 💛

The Omaha community and our project team recently celebrated a significant milestone in the construction of the new Behavioral Health & Wellness Center. The “topping out" ceremony commemorated the completion of the building’s structural steel framing – a common ritual for vertical building construction. The state-of-the-art facility, located on the Children’s Nebraska campus, will be a 107,250-square-foot, four-story mental health center for ages 5-18. It will include a partial hospitalization program, an eating disorder program, and a crisis assessment and triage center, the first of its kind in the region. Other features include indoor activity space so children can participate in physical activity year-round, enhanced safety and security features and dedicated staff spaces to promote wellness and reduce fatigue. The new facility will open in early 2026.

Kiewit is proud to be selected as one of this year's recipients of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. With more than 1,700 nominations, this award is the highest recognition from the Department of Defense to employers for their support of National Guard and Reserve members. Kiewit was nominated for the award by Charlie LeBaron, Army Reserve Engineer Officer and Kiewit MOT Superintendent and Nazareth Ng, Army Reserve Engineer Officer and Kiewit Civil Engineer. We take our commitment to supporting our nation's heroes seriously. By connecting military veterans and active service members with opportunities at Kiewit, we recognize that their unique talents and skills contribute to meaningful careers both at Kiewit and in the military. "Kiewit has made it possible for me to consistently attend all of my military training and schools since I started working. I have brought the skills that I have learned in design at Kiewit into military designs for the Army and vice versa, which has helped with my personal development. Kiewit's benefits and flexibility with my military duties have also helped my family while I was away during those periods, and I am profoundly thankful for their continued support and recognition of veterans and current service members." - Nazareth Ng Read more about the award: https://bit.ly/3xVAO7S
