Last week, Kiernan Trebach's offices held various Halloween festivities and celebrations. In our DC office, a lunchtime vote was held to determine which costumes would win gift cards up for grabs. Thank you to everyone who participated and voted. We hope everyone had a joyous Halloween!

On Thursday, November 7th, Kiernan Trebach LLP and Alan S. Block are supporting #SweatForBreath for David Cornbrooks, who was diagnosed with ALK #lungcancer at the age of 38 by participating in a charity hockey game at Capital One Arena. David is a former Division 1 athlete and has never smoked a cigarette in his life! He currently benefits from a drug approved as a first-line treatment only a few years ago. There is research for new treatments underway that have the potential to add years to the lives of ALK patients like him. More research = more life. David and his wife, Lisa Cornbrooks started Sweat For Breath Foundation to help the next generation of #alkpositive lung cancer patients. Please consider joining us and donating at www.SweatForBreath.org! For anyone in the D.C. area, there is a public skate from 6:30-7:00 pm, prior to the game (must bring your own skates). Skate where Ovechkin skates and help raise money for a great cause! Last week, partner Laura Abenes attended the Maryland State Bar Association – MSBA DEIA (diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility) Forum in Columbia, Maryland. Jurist panelists discussed DEIA's impact on the courts, including promoting access and equity in courtrooms, developing and providing judicial training and engagement, and improving outreach and public perception of the courts. The program emphasized the importance of DEIAB (DEIA belonging) to the Courts in Maryland and its role in maintaining a healthy firm or business. Thank you, Laura, for sharing your experience.
