EoE is typically treated through a combination of diet changes and medicines. There aren’t many treatment options approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for EoE but new options are being studied. Read more about treatments in our Life with EoE report: https://lnkd.in/gUG7XY74 For most people, it takes a lot of trial and error, which can be stressful. Treatments may not work as well as they would like them to or only work for a short time. Our KFA online forums let patients and caregivers talk with people who understand and can help: https://lnkd.in/gjr6Cen5

Expanded access to epinephrine can save lives. https://lnkd.in/gdrvEKCB Dillon’s Law would provide states with incentives to expand access to epinephrine for any trained person. The EPIPEN Act would cap the cost of a two-pack of epinephrine auto-injectors at $60. Take action on these bills today by asking your member of Congress to support them. #Advocacy #Epinephrine #Anaphylaxis #FoodAllergies

Elijah’s Law is making strides across the US! Elijah’s Law ensures child care centers take steps to manage food allergies for the children in their care. Since publishing our report on child care policies for food allergy with the Elijah-Alavi Foundation in 2022, NY, IL, MD, and VA have enacted the law and 6 more have introduced it. Take action if you live in CA, KS, MI, MO, or PA! We have an easy way for you to contact your legislators and support the bill in your state. https://lnkd.in/g--5EPtw But no matter where you live, you can still advocate for Elijah's Law! Our advocacy toolkit gives you resources to reach out to lawmakers, spread awareness on social media, and make a difference in your community. Together, let's ensure all kids with food allergies have safe environments to thrive!

AAFA’s advocacy makes an impact! Since 2018, AAFA has called on Congress and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to update the required contents of airline emergency medical kits (EMKs). On May 15th, President Biden signed a new law, passed by Congress, that requires the first update to EMKs in more than 20 years. AAFA’s advocacy community helped make this happen – from meeting with the FAA to Hill visits with members of Congress – AAFA never let up in calling for action. The new law calls out anaphylaxis as a condition EMKs should be prepared to treat and paves the way for easy-to-use epinephrine (auto-injectors, nasal, under-the-tongue) to become the standard. Learn more about current status of EMKs, the required changes, and the process the FAA will use to update the kits: https://lnkd.in/gtAUyAU4
