Hi again all you SA Flyer faithful! This month we have a more military flavour as we preview the big biennial AAD Expo. Our flight test is the strategic airlifter the SAAF desperately needs: Embraer’s KC-390. This is an amazingly advanced aircraft that is the right sized step up from the venerable C-130 the SAAF is struggling to keep in the air. Laura went to Oshkosh AirVenture and we bring you a full report and photo album of people. I look at the remarkable BOAC airline pilots that flew passengers in Mosquitos – and so changed the war. Peter Garrison wonders what happened to the fashion for canards. Jim Davis tells us how to climb – its more complicated than you think! Jim also looks at the dangers of orbiting around a spot on the ground – a surprisingly common killer. Our helicopter feature focuses on SANParks operations across the country. And as always, there’s so much more – from the pilot going to jail for lying on his medical, to the astronauts not coming back on the Boeing Starliner. Enjoy!
