Kentucky Medicaid is a state and federal program authorized by Title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide healthcare for eligible, low-income populations. These populations include children, low-income families, pregnant women, the aged, and the disabled. Eligibility for these groups is determined by a number of factors, including family size, income, and the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Eligibility for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the aged, blind, or disabled, are based on additional requirements such as income and resource limits. Team Medicaid is focused on ensuring the broad availability of behavioral and mental health services for all individuals served by our department. As we close out #MinorityMentalHealthAwareness month, we are highlighting a few key facts. ➡️ Behavioral health, including substance use disorder treatment, is covered under Kentucky Medicaid. ➡️Behavioral health services, such as counseling, can be obtained through telehealth. ➡️Kentucky's treatment locator, FindHelpNowKy.Org, can be used to find a provider for both mental health and substance use disorder treatment providers who are taking new clients. ➡️Medicaid's Non-Emergency Transportation Service can be used to transport people to behavioral or mental health appointments. ➡️#988 hotline calls are typically routed to Kentucky-based call centers. The majority of crisis calls are answered locally.
‼️ Update ‼️ The Medicaid application is now available in 15 languages with the addition of two more translated versions on the Medicaid website. #TeamMedicaid is focused on making health coverage accessible to more Kentuckians, including those who speak languages other than English. We are contacting our partners to inform them about a technical problem affecting specific areas of the department. Crowdstrike, a communication platform used for the provider eligibility hotline, is currently facing a global outage. As a result, the hotline is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are actively working on resolving the issue.
