The Rainin Foundation’s equity journey in our Health Program started in 2017 with a commitment to addressing barriers that limit opportunity for women in science. Our goal is to achieve greater parity for women among our Health grantees and we’ve been testing strategies along the way. We’ve awarded over $600K to 16 arts organizations through the Rest and Care Awards. Each organization will receive a grant of up to $40K to support a six-week sabbatical for its executive leader. The Rest and Care Award honors the dedication and perseverance of nonprofit leaders by providing the opportunity to step away, rest and focus on themselves. It also celebrates the Rainin Foundation’s 15 years of formal grantmaking.
