Congratulations to “Dr Katie Hebert” for successfully defending her PhD thesis today. So proud of you! It has been an amazing journey watching you progress from your start as a new bioinnovation graduate student in the bioinnovation program to where you are now. Thank you for choosing our group to work with and excited to see you taking on your next challenge. We are hearing great feedback regarding All Things CorMic* at last night’s Bio in the Valley on the HP Campus in Corvallis. At least four critical themes emerged from our panelists and presenters: > CorMic will create significant opportunities for Oregon’s economic infrastructure, especially for innovative startups and early-stage companies in the bioscience sector. >CorMic will accelerate collaboration between the bioscience sector and multiple disciplines, including microfluidics, AI, and other technologies. >CorMic’s “open source” structure will make decades of microfluidics technology available to our most innovative entrepreneurs. CorMic represents a sea change in how microfluidics technologies can be accessed and leveraged. >This innovation will drive new workforce development needs and opportunities for training and employment that can widely benefit Oregon communities. (University of Oregon is a national leader in microfluidics education.) *CorMic is the newly federally designated Corvallis Microfluidics Tech Hub on the HP Campus, where microfluidics has driven inkjet applications and other technologies.
