We're delighted to share our latest research collaboration with the Munich Security Conference (MSC), launched in New York during the UN Summit of the Future. Our new survey, conducted across nine “emerging power” countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Turkey), offers critical insights for companies and institutions operating globally: ◽Perception of Western States: People in these countries do not see Western states as rule-abiding, with the US scoring worse than China in most societies surveyed. ◽Declining Faith in International Standards: There is a growing belief that violations of international rules and principles are increasing, yet there remains a strong global appetite for rules that support universal values. ◽Implications for Corporate Communications: Companies and institutions must be mindful of how they project themselves in different markets. ◽Assumptions about audience perceptions can lead to strategic missteps. Adaptation and sensitivity to local sentiments are crucial. ◽Anti-Western Sentiment: Corporates should challenge their organizational perceptions in various markets and understand the influence of their most recognized voices. ◽Focus on Impact: While skepticism towards rule-based arguments exists, focusing on the tangible impact on people's lives resonates more effectively. Despite challenges, the data shows that people in “emerging powers” still prefer a world driven by universal values. Corporates should prioritize issues that align with these values and demonstrate their commitment to creating a prosperous, safer world.
