In 1965, a senior technical specialist in the test laboratory, developed a demonstration for area schools to increase interest in technology. This demonstration showed that while a straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, it is not necessarily the fastest. The device included a laser, one of the first used in the Kansas City Area. #75yearsofKCNSC #TBT #KCNSCHiddengem

This 1980 “how many can you put in a thimble” contest entry shows dozens of strong link switch shims. According to a staff engineer, a regular #10 thimble (such as the one shown here) could hold up to 180,000 of the tiny parts. #TBT #75yearsofKCNSC #KCNSChiddengem

The KCNSC is proud to provide teachers from the Grandview C-4 School District with real-world learning opportunities through a weeklong externship program. Educators across six disciplines had an immersive experience including soldering, mixing chemicals, microscope use and extended reality technologies. In addition, conversations were had around training, onboarding, benefits and opportunities for work place advancement. Teachers will take this experience back to the classroom to help empower them in providing options to students. #doworkthatmatters #realworldlearning #externship
