Thank you, Wichita Habitat for Humanity, for giving us the opportunity to participate in the #WomenBuild event for the second year in a row! 🌟 Our team members—Anna Porcaro, Ashley Longstaff, Dani Gaines, Debbie Haslam, Jamie Moeder, Joyce McEwen Crane, V. Kaye Monk-Morgan, EdD, Rebekah Starkey Keasling, MPA, and Stefania Lugli—rolled up their sleeves and had a great time while making a tangible impact. 🛠️🏠 At the Kansas Leadership Center, we are committed to hands-on community involvement, and this experience was a perfect example of that. ✨ Together, we can build stronger, healthier communities. 🤝 #WhenEveryoneLeads

Our first in-person When Everyone Leads program for 2024 had a record-breaking 208 participants. (We shared photos from the session with 170 participants in Konza previously.) 38 changemakers from Textron Aviation had Julia Fabris McBride facilitating their program in High Plains where they discovered how to inspire cultures where everyone can lead, break down common barriers, align diverse groups towards shared goals, and start leading from where they are. 🌍 This transformative experience empowered participants to embrace change, starting with themselves. 🚀 Feedback was overwhelmingly positive! 📣 The Kansas Leadership Center received high praise for its "amazing training," "phenomenal facilitators," and "courageous conversations." 🎯 The welcoming environment and diverse perspectives empowered attendees to challenge leadership norms and foster personal and community growth. These new alumni are ready for step 2 on the KLC path: Your Leadership Edge. Meanwhile, they’re set to unleash collective leadership in their teams, organizations, and communities. #WhenEveryoneLeads

At INTRUST, leadership is an activity, not a position. We introduce this concept through LEAD INTRUST, an in-house learning session we offer and encourage our employees to take when they have time. “It’s a space for employees to refine and evaluate ways to work through adaptive challenges they’re currently experiencing,” explains Danny B., learning and development coordinator. An adaptive challenge is a problem, issue, or opportunity where you don’t have the information you need or a checklist you can follow to help you work it through. Using resources from the Kansas Leadership Center and the book ‘Your Leadership Edge,’ the learning session teaches the concept of adaptive leadership, equipping participants with the tools and framework to accurately diagnose and move through these situations. “We guide them through ideas that can help them navigate adaptive challenges they face in their work,” Danny says. “We see that this helps our employees lean into adaptive challenges when needed, which ultimately leads to a higher level of leadership capacity across the bank.”

KLC was honored to participate in the CAPS 2024 Summer Huddle alongside dedicated organizations and leaders! 🙌 We are actively developing & testing an innovative approach to partner with educators & youth developers, providing essential leadership training and civic skills development for youth. 🤝 Senior Director of Development Christopher Harris, seen here with Allison Bajracharya, chief impact & strategy officer of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, and Yarrow Kraner, founder & CEO of HATCH, engaged with many passionate professionals. Last year's collaboration at the HATCH Heartland Summit continues to bear fruit! Our initiative aims to bridge the leadership development gap in current youth programs, empowering young people in Kansas & surrounding states to navigate social pressures & community challenges effectively. We are inspired by the forward-thinking discussions & innovations in education at the Summer Huddle. Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication to shaping the future of education and leadership. Special shoutout for the unforgettable Royals game!

REIMAGINING EDUCATION. Globalization and technology have fueled the Fourth Industrial Revolution. A major outcome of that change will be the characteristics of jobs in that future, and the educators shaping our next generation. CAPS Network (Center for Advanced Professional Studies, was founded in 2009 by HATCHer Corey Mohn, and the profession-based learning model is now connected to 100 affiliate locations, spanning over 170 school districts, 23 states, four countries, and growing. Last year CAPS was a partner with HATCH The Kansas Leadership Center and Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation on the HATCH Heartland Summit, catalyzing impactful collaborations across KC and the country. The “Summer Huddle” is a powerful cross-pollination of experts, students, and industry partners. HATCHer Chris Denson was emcee, and Gangstagrass was the featured music. Inspired by the work CAPS does, and proud to have been in the mix to help support, connect, and reunite with over nearly 20 HATCHers in two days. We were also treated to a Royals baseball game (my grandpa’s favorite team), at Kauffman stadium. Leadership Developer Jason Bosch, Ed.D. recently embedded himself in the 2024 HOBY Youth Leadership | Kansas seminar at K-State, where he connected with many of the 250 high school sophomores gathered to learn. The HOBY Kansas team gave Jason a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their program. HOBY Kansas is part of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, which has been empowering young people since 1958 and now has programs in all 50 states and 20 countries. This experience directly supports KLC’s new initiative to partner with educators and youth developers for grades 6-12. KLC aims to fill the leadership development gap in current youth programs by creating a leadership and civic skills curriculum. This will empower youth in Kansas and beyond to address social pressures and community challenges, building a strong foundation for lifelong leadership and civic engagement.

FirePoint Innovations Center at Wichita State University – an independent, non-profit entity sponsored by Wichita State University – recently welcomed 8 engineering students from historically Black colleges & universities for a unique 10-week talent development program. Alongside engaging in internships at Spirit AeroSystems or Textron Aviation, these future innovators are being immersed in Wichita’s vibrant culture. A highlight of the program is the custom When Everyone Leads course, facilitated by Jason Bosch, Ed.D. and supported by Darryl Kelly. The first half-day session (with the second session scheduled for this weekend) tackled tough challenges we face in our professional & personal lives, emphasizing that leadership is not just for a select few but for everyone. While learning about the KLC Framework, the students are exploring how today's fast-paced, diverse world needs everyone to step up & lead. They are discovering how to see & seize moments to lead, which is energizing them to inspire & mobilize others. By the end, they will not just be ready but excited to tackle the big issues that matter most. If your organization or community is interested in a tailored leadership development approach, reach out today to collaborate with KLC. #WhenEveryoneLeads
