At the 2024 NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education / Center for First-generation Student Success Conferences on Student Success in Higher Education in Anaheim, the Kansas Leadership Center made a strong impression. 💡 With more than 1,700 professionals in attendance, KLC was represented by three of our staff members. President & CEO, V. Kaye Monk-Morgan, EdD wowed attendees with a 75-minute presentation on making leadership less risky, advocating for a culture that encourages innovation and risk-taking to unleash leadership potential. 🎤Leadership Developer Jason Bosch, Ed.D., offered practical tools to dismantle barriers to student success in a session that resonated powerfully with a packed crowd. 👥 Both speakers drove a flood of traffic to KLC’s exhibit table, where Director of Communications Sam Smith shared more about KLC and passed out complimentary copies of our national bestseller When Everyone Leads. 📚 With packed sessions, engaged attendees and a crowded exhibit booth, KLC’s participation at NASPA was a success, resulting in new opportunities and reinforcing our commitment to fostering leadership and student success in higher education. 🎉 KLC speakers drive change and progress with tailored engagements for organizations and communities. 📈 Our skilled facilitators deliver flexible training and keynotes based on KLC’s leadership competencies, and we are open to unique collaborations. 🤝 Learn more and reach out: https://lnkd.in/dfiU8W6X #WhenEveryoneLeads #SSHE24 #FirstGenForward #FirstGen #NASPA #TrioWorks #HigherEducation

This spring, the Kansas Leadership Center hosted two sessions of When Everyone Leads in Kansas City. 🌟 One group met at the Wyandotte County Community Health Center, bringing together diverse community members, business owners, and volunteers. 🤝 This session honored Broderick Crawford, a beloved community advocate whose impact on Kansas City's Northeast neighborhood is still felt since his passing in November 2022. His legacy continues to inspire positive change. Wyandotte County–Kansas' smallest yet fourth most populated county, with rich racial and ethnic diversity–provided a vibrant backdrop for the event. 💡 Participants praised the program's transformative impact, noting how it challenged their perspectives on leadership and inspired meaningful action. Feedback highlighted the course's ability to empower individuals, foster engaging dialogue, and provide practical tools for community engagement. 🧩 Attendees left with a renewed mindset and a sense of purpose, emphasizing the importance of heart in leadership and the need for more such development to effect positive change. 🚀 These changemakers are ready for the next step on the KLC path: Your Leadership Edge. 👏 And KLC is ready to return to Kansas City! #WhenEveryoneLeads #KLCpath #KansasCity

KLC kicked off our Leadership in Public Service (LPS) initiative with public listening sessions in April. This effort aims to elevate leadership among public service officials at all levels in Kansas, from local to state positions. We're collaborating with communities to ensure Kansas has the best-prepared public officials in the country. The listening sessions allowed civic leaders to share their expertise and guide us in shaping experiential learning courses to meet the needs of current and aspiring elected and appointed officials. Their insights highlighted community challenges and informed our future initiatives. The LPS program is designed to prepare public officials with the skills to manage conflict, engage effectively, and understand civic processes. Our vision is to see more skilled Kansans in elected and appointed roles, leading effectively for the common good. Interested in learning more?
