Thanks to H-E-B and San Antonio Parks and Rec, kids in San Antonio have a new place to play at Arnold Park this summer! Earlier this year, over 100 H-E-B employees joined volunteers from the community to build a kid-designed playground with inclusive elements, shading, and areas for imaginative and sensory play. 📸: H-E-B Newsroom

We are a national nonprofit that works to end playspace inequity. For good.
About us
KABOOM! works with communities to build incredible, kid-designed playspaces that help give kids in every zip code the opportunity to thrive. Kids who don't have access to play miss out on childhood and are denied critical opportunities to build physical, social and emotional health. For more than two decades, we've teamed up with bold, inspiring partners and community members, starting with the kids themselves, to understand each neighborhood's unique aspirations. Then we build incredible places to play, inspired by their design, courage and leadership. Over the last 23 years, we've built or improved 17,000 playspaces, engaged more than 1.5 million community members and brought joy to over 11 million kids. As we look to the future, we'll continue our efforts to build collective action and community opportunity, spark hope and enable kids to reach their full potential. And we promise that we won't stop until we put an end to playspace inequity. For good.

Last summer, many cities across the U.S. experienced record-breaking heat waves. With this increase in temperatures, how can playgrounds adapt to the effects of climate change? Architects in Texas are designing playspaces to include shading, trees, and equipment designed to avoid weather-related playground injuries. https://lnkd.in/egqC_jKM

When people see themselves — their cultures, languages, and identities — reflected in a park or playground, they’re more likely to come back. The connection moves beyond an initial introduction to a sense of belonging. At KABOOM!, we work to foster a sense of belonging in the communities we work in. We’re thrilled to announce that KABOOM! has teamed up with NBA superstar Jerami Grant and his foundation, Hour Generation, and The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission to build a new playground at Palmer Park in Prince George’s County, MD! Jerami attended high school in Prince George’s County and is committed to providing the community that raised him with information and resources they need to thrive – including new playspaces! This will be the second build with the Hour Generation Foundation and KABOOM!. "As someone who grew up playing basketball in the DMV area, I understand the power of community spaces in shaping young minds and dreams. Partnering with KABOOM! and M-NCPPC to fund a playground build in Landover, MD isn't just about giving back; it's about providing kids with playspaces to thrive and fostering a sense of belonging in environments where children can flourish. By investing in this opportunity, we are not just building structures; we are nurturing joy, promoting health, and sowing the seeds of a brighter future for generations to come.” Thank you, Jeremi for your continued commitment to your community! In the area and want to know how to get involved in this build? Visit https://bit.ly/3VWOgAk and sign-up to volunteer on July 16, 17, or 18. 📸: ©Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

Kids deserve to learn, play, and grow in buildings that have the capacity to meet those needs. That’s why KABOOM! and our partners at the Eat. Learn. Play.
