We were inspired by 10 amazing speakers and had a wonderful boat trip that connected us with colleagues from other locations. The topics were all about 🐎 the highlights of our JvM culture with Peter Figge, 🛠️ the growing importance of improvisational skills with Max Lederer, 🤖 a spectacular AI Prompt Battle with Christoph Grünberger and Lars Reiners, 🏳️🌈 our understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion with Naz Al-Windi, ✊🏻 speeches against right-wing extremism with Ercan Carikci & Jannik Veenhuis and 🌍 the growth of JvM with Robert Zitzmann and Sven Rebholz. Moshi: GPT-4O Killer or Just Hype? 🗣️ Moshi is a fully voice-based conversational AI recently announced by Kyutai Research Lab. Let's break down the excitement and uncover the truth – can it live up to the buzz? 🐝 JvM STABLES PRESENTS: LESSON LAIRNED! Moshi is touted as the "First Real-Time Voice AI Ever Released“ and was built from scratch by a team of eight in just six months. Mind-blowing. It’s announced to be open-sourced soon. With its relatively small size, it can be run locally on commodity hardware, holding the promise of bringing GPT-4o-like conversations from the cloud to the user. The speed of this AI is groundbreaking, enabling real-time conversations that feel natural. However, it often interrupts before you finish your sentence. (Although: Seems familiar?!) The demo interface is user-friendly and easy to use, but the LLM quality of the current prototype is still lacking. It rarely follows instructions or understands the conversation's context, often repeating itself and failing to complete more complex tasks. Additionally, the sound quality can be noisy.
