Our company-wide initiatives include prioritizing our "Safety First" and "Vision Zero" philosophies by implementing and certifying ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management Systems at our plants, assuring workplace health and safety compliance, providing training and resources to enhance our safety culture and reinforce the understanding that incidents and work-related illnesses are preventable. JSS locations around the world host various safety awareness and emergency preparedness events. In South America, JSS hosts an annual accident prevention week and monthly safety drills. Similarly, Hungary also hosts an annual safety week where employees are updated on common workplace safety actions like first aid demonstrations. Additionally, the S-SFM and E-SFM safety initiatives in Thailand have received 10 consecutive National Level Safety and Health Awards from the Thai Government. We are excited to introduce JSS's newest facility in Hefei, China! Our Hefei facility marks the seventh manufacturing plant and third research and development center in China. It will focus on advancing airbag and steering wheel technology, with an anticipated annual production capacity of 10 million airbags and 4 million steering wheels. Phase one construction for this cutting-edge plant was completed in 2023 and the plant has already started production of steering wheels and airbags for JSS customers. Last month, JSS China hosted its 5th annual Children’s Day charity art contest, which was designed to inspire creativity and foster a sense of wonder about the future of the automobiles. The theme for this year’s contest was “Evolution of Automobile,” encouraging our young artists to envision the future of transportation. Nearly 100 children participated, showcasing their artistic talents and imagination. As part of Children’s Day, JSS will donate 100 art kits through the China Foundation for Rule Development to schools in underprivileged areas on behalf of the participating children. This initiative not only supports young artists but also extends the spirit of creativity and learning to those in need. On May 23rd, the Joyson Safety Systems ISS team attended the WeAutomotive Group Battery Thermal Management Expo (BTM-EXPO) in Palo Alto, California. This event, known for being a leading platform for battery thermal management advancements, provided JSS with an opportunity to showcase our latest technologies, including our expanded Pyrotechnic Battery Disconnect (PBD) Family, Pyrotechnic Line Closer, Pyrotechnic Actuators and our most recent technical developments in gas spectroscopy and external pressure sensing. Our team was also able to connect with key industry players and discussed persistent technical challenges in the EV landscape including battery safety, fast charging, degradation, thermal regulation and performance in extreme environments. This is the second event JSS has attended in the series of conferences, and we are looking forward to the last event this November. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA , young drivers are more prone to distractions while driving, especially with other passengers in the vehicle. Educating them about the dangers of driving is essential, but parents may not always be around to enforce rules on limiting passengers or remind them to focus on the road. This is where modern safety technologies like our Driver Monitoring System (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring System (OMS) play a role. May is recognized as #GlobalYouthTrafficSafetyMonth, a time to educate drivers on safe driving habits, reinforce traffic regulations and set positive example of safe driving, as we approach the summer season. Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA indicate that young drivers face a risk of being involved in fatal accidents compared to other age groups, particularly during the summer months. At Joyson Safety Systems our focus is on developing technologies that proactively identify and address driving dangers. We integrate safety features like warnings and responsive measures such as automatic seatbelt tightening and airbags to protect young drivers in case of an unforeseen event. On April 24th, Joyson Safety Systems attended the WeAutomotive Group #BTMInnovationSummitEurope in Stuttgart, Germany. Our ISS team showcased different versions of our award-winning Pyrotechnic Battery Disconnect device (PBD) as well as our as well as our Pyrotechnic Line Closer (PLC), Pin Puller and Latch Release devices. These advancements are transforming battery safety by monitoring gas concentration and battery housing swelling to prevent overheating. We appreciated having the opportunity to connect with other companies in the battery management industry and we are excited to attend the next few events in this series.
