Joint Office of Energy and Transportation
Government Administration
Accelerating an electrified transportation system that is convenient, reliable, affordable, accessible, and equitable.
About us
The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation was created through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) to facilitate collaboration between the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Joint Office will align resources and expertise across the two departments toward leveraged outcomes. The office will be a critical component in the implementation of the BIL, providing support and expertise to a multitude of programs that seek to deploy a network of electric vehicle chargers, zero-emission fueling infrastructure, and zero-emission transit and school buses. The scope of the Joint Office will continue to evolve as directed by both departments.

The Joint Office is celebrating the state of Utah today as they open their first electric vehicle charging station funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. The station, conveniently located amid the iconic red rock formations of Moab near Arches National Park, gives those hoping to discover the magic of the desert the ability to charge their vehicles despite the remote nature of their destination. Most EV charging takes place in communities, where people live, work, and shop. Glad to see our team sharing the message about community charging as well as funding opportunities to make charging more widely available. ⚡ Find more information about the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure funding opportunity here: https://lnkd.in/gmAh456d
Currently listening to Bridget Gilmore, the Midwest Regional Technical Assistance Lead for the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, discuss some key points to #CFI funding proposals... the successes from Round 1, the changes for Round 2, and what are key points to focus on for a CFI #community based proposal. With Millions of dollars on the table for #EVcharginginfrastructure for #communities alone, there is a dire need for #collaboration. Collaboration is a huge challenge out there as a lot of organizations want to be THE champion, and these funding packages are very competitive. But for the chance at $15MM... #Municipalities could drastically change the landscape of how the public charge their #EVs #equitably. Go #REVCC!

FOTW #1348: Because larger vehicles use more energy than smaller vehicles, there is greater potential for fuel cost savings when switching to vehicles powered by electricity. 💰 Argonne National Laboratory estimated fuel cost savings potential for replacing a gasoline vehicle with the same size electric vehicle (all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle) on a ZIP code level. ⚡ Check out the results: https://lnkd.in/gcNtTbKi
