Joint Office of Energy and Transportation
Government Administration
Accelerating an electrified transportation system that is convenient, reliable, affordable, accessible, and equitable.
About us
The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation was created through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) to facilitate collaboration between the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Joint Office will align resources and expertise across the two departments toward leveraged outcomes. The office will be a critical component in the implementation of the BIL, providing support and expertise to a multitude of programs that seek to deploy a network of electric vehicle chargers, zero-emission fueling infrastructure, and zero-emission transit and school buses. The scope of the Joint Office will continue to evolve as directed by both departments.

FOTW #1348: Because larger vehicles use more energy than smaller vehicles, there is greater potential for fuel cost savings when switching to vehicles powered by electricity. 💰 Argonne National Laboratory estimated fuel cost savings potential for replacing a gasoline vehicle with the same size electric vehicle (all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle) on a ZIP code level. ⚡ Check out the results: https://lnkd.in/gcNtTbKi

The Round 8 Request for Nominations (RFN) for Alternative Fuel Corridors is now open! The RFN provides State and local officials the opportunity to nominate Alternative Fuel Corridors for designation. Alternative Fuel Corridors are tied to funding provisions under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), including the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program. In addition to nominating AFCs, the Round 8 RFN provides an opportunity to make recommended changes to the designated Freight Electric Vehicle (EV) Corridors. The due date is August 1, 2024. Let your local officials know if you think of a corridor that would benefit from designation! https://lnkd.in/eeeH6Br

Thanks to LACI for letting us spark some discussion last week about zero-emission delivery options in cities and communities!
Great meeting today of Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)‘s Zero Emissions Delivery City Innovation Challenge. With 9 cities representing 1 in 6 Americans, our cohort is collectively seeking to accelerate the move to zero emissions by inviting startup and other solutions into innovation sandboxes and scaling what works for first- to last-mile delivery. By demonstrating the market forces of cities—including from Portland to Pittsburgh and LA to Louisville—we can reduce costs, congestion and pollution. Thanks to Gabe Klein & Ann Shikany—and their colleagues—for joining us for a federal roundtable as well to our partners C40 Cities & Climate Mayors. We also appreciate our hosts District Department of Transportation (DDOT) as well as our funders Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, Wells Fargo (John Moon), MUFG and others. Please DM me if you want to join our funders in providing support for innovation pilots which helps cities, startups, and the private sector to better use federal incentives to move at speed and scale toward zero emissions. Thanks to Dawn Miller, Michael Samulon, & all the participants from Miami-Dade County, City of Pittsburgh, City of Portland, City of Los Angeles, City of New York, City of Oakland, City of Santa Monica, Louisville Metro Government, & DC Government. Finally, thanks to all our private sector participants from Amazon, FedEx, DHL, DoorDash, Uber and IKEA. Cc Michelle Kinman, Alex Mitchell & Kaia Robinson Tim Defuria, Jeff Peel, AICP
