Joint Force Headquarters - Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ-DODIN) Commander Lt Gen Robert Skinner joined Marshall University President Brad D. Smith last Friday as they broke ground on the new Institute for Cyber Security Building that will house the first physical location of the National Center of Excellence for Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure (NCoE). They were joined for this commemorative event by West Virginia University President E. Gordon Gee and numerous industry partners. The groundbreaking ceremony was the pinnacle of a productive week dedicated to solidifying the governance framework of the NCoE, developing research objectives, initiatives to help shape national level policy and technology transfer, and shaping curricula for undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs, in addition to specialized microcredendtials and certifications. The new facility fulfills the Command’s goals through the U.S. Cyber Command Academic Engagement Network by using both universities as a force multiplier to educate, train, and certify the current and future #cyber #workforce. Along with #interagency and #industry partners, this collaboration offers fresh and diverse perspectives for initiatives and processes that will evolve through the NCoE into real world operations that utilize the technologies underpinning global critical infrastructure. When construction is completed in the fall of 2026, the new facility will complement a second NCoE location being developed by West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va. Both efforts correlate with a Command priority empowering both institutions to develop simulated real-time cyber range capabilities and customizable IT/OT security operations center labs. Students will be connected to cyberspace operators in Fort Meade, MD– the Headquarters of JFHQ-DODIN and USCYBERCOM. Many thanks to our interagency partners from #DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, our leaders and teammates from the Office of the Secretary of Defense PCA, OUSD A&S, #DODCIO, DoD Cyber Crime Center (DC3), #USACE, U.S. Army Cyber Command, #ARL, #CMI2, #ICIT, #WVNG for their continued partnership in this vital endeavor. We look forward to the next chapter!
