“This park ensures that the Johnson Brothers’ incredible legacy will be elevated beyond today. It honors the past, but it is a vessel for the future of the neighborhood that is coming into being, and this will be a place for new memories to be made.” - our President Mari Kuraishi captures the essence of Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing Park.

The LaVilla Link is a critical first part of the Emerald Trail that connects modern-day neighborhoods to one of our urban core’s most historically important areas. With the opening of Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park in sight, we’re so excited for many pedestrians and cyclists to discover LaVilla.
We were so excited to join Groundwork Jacksonville and Baptist Health on the official opening of the LaVilla Link of the Emerald Trail today. This 1.3 mile pedestrian and bike trail connects the Brooklyn neighborhood to LaVilla and the S-Line link, and is the first section of the 30-mile trail that is complete. "The Emerald Trail will be a shining jewel for this city, and it represents so much of what my administration is about," said Mayor Donna Deegan during the ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning. "Things such as economic development, strengthening community ties, health, resilience, and infrastructure. Through the Trail, we are taking a big leap forward in all of these areas." We can't wait to see everyone getting out and enjoying this transformational aspect to our City. Years of research and conversations on how to address funding gaps for affordable housing resulted in a unique public-private model that can adapt to changing needs. Today, we’re proud to stand alongside Mayor Deegan as she announces a $10 million commitment in her proposed 2024-2025 budget to jumpstart this innovative affordable housing loan fund, a public-private partnership that would ultimately catalyze $120 million in new multifamily rental housing. Together with The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, we will be working over the next several months to secure the remaining loan dollars from the private sector including philanthropy, corporations, and financial and anchor institutions. https://lnkd.in/eF-fmu3z
