Support our community's Holocaust Survivors in a unique way by owning the film, "Beautiful Blue Eyes," starring Roy Scheider. Benefitting JCS' Holocaust Survivor Assistance Program, $18 of every purchase of "Beautiful Blue Eyes" will support the food, home care, and supportive service needs of our community's Holocaust survivors. JCS extends our gratitude to our incredible volunteers who came together at the JCS Kosher Food Bank, in partnership with The Tribe, to pack 100 summer kits for kids! Your dedication and caring hearts bring smiles and joy to children in our community, and ensure a fun summer experience for those who are not able to attend summer camps.

Last weekend, our agency co-hosted the annual World Refugee Day Picnic, with our partners CWS South East, OneAfghanistan, Refugee Assistance Alliance and Community Changemakers. During the event, we enjoyed picnic food, games, and music from the beautiful cultures of refugees in our community. We enjoyed meeting everyone, and look forward to next year!

During JCS' Annual Meeting 2024, Vanessa Ressler assumed the role of Board Chair, accompanied by four new additions to the Board of Directors: Michael Berman, Michele Burger, Nadine Foldes, and Samuel Morhaim. Vanessa Ressler, a South Florida resident since 2006, brings extensive experience in nonprofit and faith-based organizations. Concluding her term as President of Temple Beth Shalom in Miami Beach, she now assumes the role of JCS Board Chair. On becoming the JCS Board Chair, Vanessa says, “I am exceedingly proud of this opportunity to continue my service to JCS as Board Chair. Working with this amazing team of professional and caring staff and leaders to provide a safety-net to the most vulnerable in our community is an incredible honor. I started my journey with JCS as a volunteer in order to teach my children the importance of caring for frail, lonely and underserved, and have found that I have learned much more in return.”

JCS wishes you and your loved ones a happy and safe Passover. Each year during Passover, families gather together to remember our Jewish ancestors' exodus from slavery to freedom. This story reminds us of our peoples' resilience and determination to survive - themes that ring especially true in the wake of October 7th. This year, we call upon our community to draw inspiration from our ancestors' tenacity over 3,000 years ago, and continue to care for our community's most vulnerable alongside us.
