JM Brennan’s Fire Protection team will be designing and installing the fire protection system for the tallest mass timber building in the world, the new 32 story Edison apartment building. 🧯
📣📰 Construction is set to begin this August on The Edison, a 32-story mass timber apartment tower that takes sustainability and forward-thinking development to new heights in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In advance of the full construction start date, crews will start running test piles at the 1005 N. Edison Street site the week of June 24th. BREAKING NEW GROUND with MASS TIMBER 🌲 In the process of becoming one of the tallest mass timber hybrid structures in the world, The Edison will utilize nearly 100,000 cubic feet of timber. The use of mass timber follows The Neutral Project's mission of stewarding our environment and creating more sustainable communities, buildings and investments. Mass timber boasts several environmental benefits, including faster construction times and a reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional building materials. INNOVATIONS in SUSTAINABLE LIVING 💚 Mass timber technology is part of a holistic approach to intentional environmental design, using sustainable building materials and targeting Passive House (Phius) certification for energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Beyond its primary structure, the project includes several green initiatives, such as improvements to the city Riverwalk, plans for a green roof, and integration with electric vehicle sharing, buses, rapid transit and bike share programs. BEST-IN-CLASS AMENITIES🌟 The Edison isn't just about sustainability; it's also about creating vibrant communities. The 375-foot tower will feature 383 apartment units and over 7,000 square feet of retail space with best-in-class amenities, including a cafe, fitness center, spa, pool, sauna, demo kitchen, sky lounge, dog park, movie room, community garden, entertainment deck with kitchens and an outdoor sport court. STAY TUNED🔗 Stay current on the latest news and learn more at cdsmith(dot)com/mass-timber-construction#news. 🤝 Project team members on The Edison include The Neutral Project, Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, Thornton Tomasetti, SPACECO, Inc., HDLA, Arup, dbHMS, Priopta, RAD, RWDI, JT Engineering, Inc. and C.D. Smith Construction. C.D. Smith is also the general contractor for Baker's Place, another mass timber building by the Neutral Project and the first of its kind in Madison. #Sustainability #MassTimber #Innovation #Wisconsin #Milwaukee #Construction #ProjectUpdate #EngineeredWood #realestate #residentialdevelopment #MultiFamily #LuxuryLiving #building #CDSmith #ThinkSafeWorkSafe

Inspiring tomorrow’s tradespeople!
Plumbers Local 75 Summer Academy Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Training program is off to a great start. Today, the students visited J.M. Brennan, Inc. to speak with Superintendents, Project Managers, and one of the co-owners, John Brennan III. The Brennan crew shared their stories of how they came into the trades and explained what the expectations would be as a youth apprentice all the way to becoming a journeyman. The students toured the Fabrication Shop, watched several demonstrations, learned about different career pathways from working in the field, service, BIM, and project management roles. The morning ended with a hands-on activity for the students and Jill Ackerman. 😊 A big shout out to all the J.M. Brennan crew that took time out of their day to provide insight and advice to these students. This is a new program collaborated with Local 75 Training School and PMSMCA to provide students with readiness skills and knowledge for Youth Apprenticeships in Plumbing. The students will complete a four-day camp at Local 75 Training School which at the end they’ll receive a certificate and assessment. #youthapprenticeship #careersintrades #plumbingcareers
