President, Penn State ITE | PhD. Candidate | Penn State | Research Interests: Traffic Operations, Control, Safety & Optimization
Attended my 3rd ITE Annual Meeting in Philly this week. Not only did I have the chance to represent Penn State ITE alongside Gerald Greer and Timothy Yencha at the Grand Championship of the ITE Traffic Bowl, but also got the opportunity to catch up with the most amazing group of professionals in the Transportation sector. Hats off to the LAC for putting together a great show at our home District. Thank you MASITE (Mid-Atlantic Section of Institute of Transportation Engineers), Mid-Colonial District ITE and ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals for always being there for the students.

Earlier this week the ITE at UW brought 7 students to this year's ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals International Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. ITE at UW was awarded the ITE International Student Chapter Momentum Award, being recognized as the student chapter who has made the greatest improvement (or momentum) amongst all ITE Student Chapters! Our Co-Presidents Jonah Lorica and Garett Davis, EIT accepted the award on behalf of the student chapter. In addition, UW brought two student teams to compete for the Transportation Technology Tournament competition and International Traffic Bowl. Both teams were first-time participants and represented UW well! We are very proud of their success and school spirit they brought to their respective competitions! ITE at UW would like to thank PacTrans for helping sponsoring our students to attend this year's ITE International Annual Meeting. 🌟 Highlights from the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Annual Meeting and Exhibition! 🚴♂️🚴♀️ Bike Transit team member and Indego's Planning Manager, Laura Bolles, attended ITE's Annual Meeting and Exhibition, where they explored essential topics such as transportation planning, traffic engineering, complete streets and innovative street design, transportation equity, and data analytics. A special shoutout to the Bike Transit Philadelphia team that operates Indego and the City of Philadelphia for partnering with ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals to provide e-bikes and corral services for two fantastic biking tours around Philadelphia. These tours gave participants a unique opportunity to experience Philadelphia's extensive bike infrastructure and learn about the process behind it. For the first time in my engineering career, an engineering organization had an all Black plenary panel. This is long overdue, but kudos to ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals for probably being the first. Hopefully, not the last! It was an honor to share the stage with Cipriana Patterson, P.E., PTOE, Veronica Perry McBeth, Freddie C Fuller II, and Frank A. Franklin II, PhD, JD, MPH, FCPP. For those that were wondering my t-shirt says “Shout out to the sidewalks for keeping me off the streets”. #ITEPhilly2024 #Equity #InclusiveTransportation
