We are excited to welcome them home with a big winning cheer! With commendable performances at the Traffic Bowl scrimmage and the District Traffic Bowl, the new ITE chapter at Texas State University is going strong! The young chapter hosted a technical guest lecture in March and sent several members to the TexITE Spring Meeting in April. They have been active as a chapter since late last year and we are excited to have them on board! This webinar will summarize the additions and changes to MUTCD Part 8 in the 11th edition. It applies to heavy rail passenger, freight, and Light Rail Transit (LRT) crossings. This session will provide an overview of the changes to evaluating the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices at grade crossings. Participants will understand the roles and responsibilities of diagnostic teams when evaluating grade crossings. It will cover the updates to the MUTCD for passive traffic control and the proper use and placement of signage and markings at grade crossings. It has been a privilege to both serve as the LAC Chair for the 2024 ITE Western District Annual Meeting in Sacramento and run for District office. Although this meeting is a wrap, the journey is just getting started, as I am excited to join your WesternITE Board as Secretary-Treasurer in 2025! This meeting included over 600 participants, including 126 presenters, panelists, and moderators, and 33 exhibitor booths. We opened the conference with an inspiring keynote from Senator Angelique Ashby, and Caltrans Chief Deputy Director Mike Keever delivered the lunchtime address. We offered two technical tours: a bicycle tour of downtown Sacramento and an airside tour of the Sacramento International Airport (SMF). In addition to the robust technical program, we hosted Family Night at Punch Bowl Social, the inaugural Western District Bowl, and a western-themed Awards Banquet, featuring line dancing lessons, a DJ, and photobooth.
