A new ITE Quick Bite, "Vehicular Traffic Warning Signs for Buses", highlights the pressing need for an advanced warning sign for busway and BRT crossings in the United States. With the completion of numerous significant transit projects, the absence of such a sign in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) has become increasingly apparent. The ITE Transit Committee formed a task force to address this gap by studying symbols used worldwide and coordinating with ongoing FHWA research efforts. About yesterday at the ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals Annual Meeting…grateful for the impactful conversation on Challenging Perceptions: Race, Transportation, Safety, and the Built Environment we got to bring to the main stage with a panel unlike any that’s likely been there before. Thanks to my powerhouse panelists - Veronica O. Davis, PE , Veronica Perry McBeth , Freddie C Fuller II and Frank A. Franklin II, PhD, JD, MPH, FCPP - for being game changers everyday and bringing that same energy to the stage at #itephilly2024. We know we didn’t get to all the questions…stay tuned though…the conversation isn’t over…😉 I appreciate the partnership with the ITE team and all the time Colleen Agan and Matthew Hardy, Ph.D. spent with me over the last year making sure we could make this happen. Thanks to Steve Kuciemba and John Davis, PE, PTOE, RSP1 for recognizing the importance of this conversation in this space. I closed with this: As transportation professionals, we aren’t just planning, designing, engineering and implementing. We have the capacity to begin to address decades of injustice, dis-service and discriminatory practices and policies. We have the capacity to literally change lives with the way we bring projects and access to communities… We challenge you to shift out of the “neutral expert” zone and own the power and responsibility to do things differently.

From west coast to east coast, thanks ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals for providing me a valuable opportunity to attend and present in the student poster session of the 2024 ITE International Annual Meeting. It is always exciting to reconnect with old folks and make new friends in the ITE family. Every session attendance and interactions with other transportation professionals always keep expanding the volume of my gas tank and pushing me onward and upward to become a dedicated transportation professional in the future. The valuable ITE memories deeply rooted in my mind starting from Big Sky (ITE Mountain District) to the City of Brotherly Love this summer. I am looking forward to tirelessly contributing and giving back to the ITE community in the future.
