Please reach out to our other locations if you need immediate assistance. https://lnkd.in/dP5YVYRm Did you know that on this day in 1917, Mexico drafted a constitution in the state of Querétaro? This constitution outlines basic rights, such as freedom of speech, religion, and legal rights, that are also present in other constitutions around the world. Article 23 of the Mexican constitution states that Mexican citizens have a right to a good job, decent housing, and health protection and care. This was a significant step towards creating a more just society for all Mexicans. However, the road to this constitution was not easy. The dictator Porfirio Díaz ruled Mexico for over 31 years and was running for his seventh term in office in 1910. When his opponent, Francisco Madero, began to gain popularity, Díaz had him arrested and declared himself the president of Mexico for another term. This led to the Mexican Revolution, which caused turmoil across the country. After years of bloodshed, the Constitution of Mexico was drafted, granting basic rights to all Mexican citizens and allowing them to have a say in who their leader would be.
