Falling costs make electric trucks competitive! 🚛 A study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI shows that the costs of batteries and fuel cells are falling faster than expected. This should enable the fast market diffusion of these technologies and help to achieve national and international climate policy goals. 🤝 🔋 Battery costs: The study predicts that battery system costs will soon fall below 200 EUR/kWh and could fall below 100 EUR/kWh by the late 2040s. 💧 Fuel cell costs: Fuel cell system costs could fall to around 150 EUR/kW by the late 2030s, although this technology faces greater uncertainties regarding cost targets. 📉 Key Findings: 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀 and require less financial support than fuel cell trucks. 🚧 Rapid expansion of production facilities and charging infrastructure is essential to avoid delays!
