Today, Integrity House President and CEO Robert Budsock served as a focal point in a meeting with Nora Volkow, Director of The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health. Bob is one of only two focal points in the U.S. Focal points are reliable, expert professionals and organizations in the field of drug demand reduction. Bob reported on the developments of the Declaration of Oviedo, a Global Initiative on Drug Use Prevention. The Declaration was showcased at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) during its mid-term review to assess implementation of all international drug policy commitments in 2024. Integrity House has been committed to removing barriers to care for thousands of Newark residents for almost 56 years. To that end, we are excited to host Integrity Day, a free community wellness event on August 22, 2024 in Newark’s historic Lincoln Park. The event will include remarks from the honorable Mayor Ras J. Baraka and offer a variety of health and wellness services ranging from screenings for substance use disorder and infectious diseases to Narcan packages, creative arts therapy, yoga, family-friendly games, and more!

Integrity House reposted this
Last week, I had the honor of taking part in a briefing held by Treatment Communities of America, in collaboration with the House Addiction, Treatment, and Recovery Caucus, highlighting the significance of residential treatment as a key element of integrated care for those with SUD. I was joined by esteemed colleagues who like Integrity House, represent member organizations of TCA: Seep Varma, Shawn Jenkins, Ed Carlson; and Robert Morrison of National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD). Congressman Paul Tanko provided support with opening remarks, and many others attended to listen and engage in this necessary and meaningful dialogue.

Juneteenth: a day to remember, reflect, and rejoice! Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a day to recognize a significant step toward equality and justice for African Americans. We remember that on this day in 1865, the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom. Integrity House remains dedicated to fostering an environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion inform how we serve individuals and families; engage, train, and support staff; and collaborate with community partners. In honor of Juneteenth, comment below on the significance of what this day means to you.

Integrity House’s prevention team is out in our local Newark neighborhood providing support to the community. On this day, HIV testing was available alongside goody bags that consisted of wellness products and light snacks. We love to help out the community in any way we can, one person at a time.
