Intealth’s FAIMER division is pleased to share that Dr. Marta van Zanten, Senior Director of Research at FAIMER and a dedicated member of the FAIMER Global Quality Assurance Committee, recently visited the PSG-FAIMER Regional Institute (PSG-FRI) in Coimbatore, India! Established in 2007, the PSG-FRI has been at the forefront of advancing health professions education in the region. Dr. van Zanten’s visit, along with the leadership of Dr. Sudha Ramalingam, Director, and Dr. Sumitra Govindarajan, Associate Director, underscores Intealth’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence across all ten FAIMER Regional Institutes. BMC Medical Education has appointed Marta van Zanten, PhD, Senior Director, FAIMER Research, as a co-guest editor for its Collection, “Accreditation and Program Evaluation Models in Medical Education.” Submissions are open now through December 9, 2024. BMC Medical Education is an open-access journal that publishes original, peer-reviewed research articles, and they are seeking articles for this Collection that study the dynamic nature of medical education and evolution in accreditation and program evaluation processes that ensure the quality, relevance, and efficiency of medical educational programs worldwide. Intealth extends heartfelt gratitude and a fond farewell to Dr. Ronald Blanck, who served as FAIMER’s Executive Director in an interim capacity beginning in November 2022. FAIMER has thrived under Dr. Blanck’s steady and supportive leadership. During his tenure, he and the FAIMER team launched important initiatives, including a regional competency-based education program in India, the Eastern Africa FAIMER Regional Institute, and an electronic health record module to support IMGs joining U.S. residency programs. In honor of Freedom Day (Juneteenth), one of Intealth's employee resource groups, the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Network, organized a virtual tour for employees of the National Constitution Center exhibit, "Civil War and Reconstruction: The Battle for Freedom and Equality." Just a friendly reminder that there are only two weeks left to access the EHR learning module. If you are an IMG beginning a first-year U.S. residency position, don't miss out on this opportunity to prepare yourself. In the 2023 pilot, 83% of users reported that completing the module helped them feel better prepared for their residency’s EHR orientation. Incoming IMGs who are approved for J-1 visa sponsorship were sent an invitation to the module by Intealth. Program confirmation of matched status is required for non J-1 visa IMGs to access the module.
